List of Known Issues, Descriptions, Solutions, Timing

This is a current list of Known Issues in Scaler v3.1:

Issue Description Solution When will it be Addressed?
Error 2 message during plugin scan on Windows This is a Windows permissions issue regarding items within the Scaler 3 folder Assign full rights for current user to C:\ProgramData\Scaler Music\Scaler 3 folder via right click - properties - general - security tab. Or for temporary fix run Scaler 3 standalone app via right click - run as administrator Currently being investigated
Windows Installation Failure – Manual Path Conflict The manual fails to install to Users\Public\Documents on some Windows systems. Disable OneDrive or see below article. No code fix planned – user config required
Strumming Slows Down and Falls Out of Time Over Successive Bars The timing of strums becomes increasingly delayed with each successive bar. The strum starts in time initially but slows down at the beginning of each new bar, resulting in noticeable timing drift and a performance that is out of sync. Expected mid to late July
Bind does not work on detected chords added to Section A Bind is not functioning for detected chords added to Section A, but it does work as expected with Chord Sets added to Section A. Expected mid to late July
Sidebar Motions selector not appearing for most Expressions, appears for Articulations. The selector (< >) is missing for Bass, Phrases, Melody, Sequences, and Strummed Sequences. Temporary workaround: splitting a clip will force the selector to appear for subsequent clips. Expected mid to late July
“Disconnect From Live Sync” Popup Appears Unexpectedly. Scaler 3 occasionally shows a “Break Sync?” dialog even when no sync changes have occurred. This typically happens on project load, but can also occur when clicking tracks, including tracks that don’t contain Scaler. Expected mid to late July
Suggest “Detect Mode’ / ‘All Scales’ / MIDI Detect’ Updates the scale name but not the scale list Expected mid to late July
Project Corruption in various DAWs Expected mid to late July
User Presets Cause Crash Expected mid to late July
Standalone Won’t Open / Crashes on Launch Expected mid to late July
Synced instances show “Disconnect From Live Sync” popup unexpectedly Expected mid to late July
Consistent crash when using Undo via Modulation > Secondary Scale Expected mid to late July
‘Scale White Keys’ Keys Lock mode not sending Mod wheel data Expected mid to late July
Clicking on a single note within a Bass or Chord follow track results in that note visually sticking across all tracks. Expected mid to late July
Chord note length in MIDI editor not displaying correctly in odd time signatures e.g. 3/4, 5/4, 6/8 Expected mid to late July
MIDI Detection not identifying as a new chord when a note is carried over from last chord Expected mid to late July
MIDI Capture does not record Section C internal play (DAW Sync Chord Trigger) Expected mid to late July
New session does not adopt DAW time signature if not 4/4. Expected mid to late July
Audio Export Hangs When Using Two or More Instances of 3rd Party Instruments Audio export hangs before 100% completion when using multiple instances of certain 3rd party instruments across multiple tracks. Expected October
Drag and Drop to NI Maschine Unable to Drag and Drop to NI Maschine Expected October
Strumming | Direction Calls up incorrect menu / not operable Expected October
Keys Lock Not Responding Fast Enough to Chord Changes. Keys Lock Not Responding Fast Enough to Chord Changes. Expected October
MIDI Output Doesn’t Record When VST/VST3 is Inserted on Track When using the MIDI Channel Out feature to record MIDI onto a separate track, no MIDI data is recorded if a VST or VST3 insert effect is loaded on the Scaler track. This issue does not occur with AU insert effects. Currently being investigated
Track Audio Output Muted with Certain VST3 Effects Audio output is muted when specific VST3 audio effects are added to a track in either VST3 plugin or standalone mode on Windows. Currently being investigated
Activation Error - “Couldn’t Activate License” Some users receive an error stating, “Couldn’t Activate License: Could not read or write license file. This is a trial version of Scaler 3, you have 0 days remaining,” possibly due to OS permissions preventing file access. Currently being investigated
Certain Motions Incomplete Some Performances are incomplete in contrast to GUI representation. Currently being investigated
Main Track Motions don’t always update when changed Attempting to change Motions on the Main Track using the browser or the previous/next buttons doesn’t always update the motion as expected. This issue seems to occur more frequently with Bass and Sequence motion types, although it may be influenced by the specific path or sequence of selections the user has taken. Toggling the Motion off and on again forces the correct update. Currently being investigated
Preset Favourites Not Saved via Favourites Button on Header Favouriting presets via the Header > Preset Indicator > Favourites Button does not persist the selection. Favourites are only saved correctly when selected from within the Main Preset Browser. Currently being investigated
Suggest Chords with Minimize Movement engaged cuts off chords with no 3rds or fifths. When Minimize Movement is enabled in Suggest Mode, some of the suggested chords with no 3rds or fifths are cut off prematurely. Currently being investigated
Voicing Grouping Reduces MIDI Output Velocity With Voicing Grouping enabled, the UI Velocity (improved and renamed to Default Velocity in the impending 3.1 update) is not applied correctly: previewed chords and BIND-triggered notes output at lower velocities than those set in the Playback menu or received from MIDI input. Currently being investigated
