The question:
In standalone S3 are there any keyboard shortcuts? I can’t see any in the manual or in the settings menu.
Space bar starts and stops the play but I can’t find anything that rewinds to the start etc.

Comments - all relating to Standalone on Windows:

  1. Standalone definitely needs ASIO support. ASIO is pretty much the defacto standard for music apps on Windows so it’s an odd omission
  2. Minor bug. If you load a preset, start it playing then change the preset the new preset loads and play continues but the playhead does not reset to the start of the sequence.
  3. Minor bug. If you rewind to the start of a sequence the view does not follow it. So if you are scrolled along the timeline your playhead is off screen.
  4. Minor bug. The standalone window does not remember its size. Mine always defaults to a bit larger than my screen!
  5. Scanning VSTs is quite unreliable. VST3s that Studio One and Ableton can happily scan are reported as errors or just don’t appear in S3.
  6. MIDI output. S3 really, really needs to support external hardware synths.

That all sounds quite negative but my overall verdict is very good. I expect it will settle down after a couple of maintenance releases.

@davide - I get the impression you have been a bit overwhelmed by demands, comments and complaints so I just wanted to say “keep yer pecker up!” It’s a good product and it will get better.

You said what a lot of people are probably thinking. I know Scaler 3 is going to be great and I just have to be patient.

How do you get it to scan for plugins? I can’t even find the “preferences” area that is supposed to be in the “settings” area - it only shows the audio/midi settings.

Any ideas?

Use the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) top-right somewhere.

Standalone on Windows 10:

when inserting a FX, certain fx plugins are blocking the entire audio output, among others plugins by Arturia, kiloHearts, u-he, iZotope, Unfiltered Audio, …

Trying to insert any plugin by “Hornet” or “Variety of Sound” instantly crashes the Scaler 3 standalone.
