It isn’t in the drop down menu for Audio/MIDI Setup. Is this temporary?
Same, every other standalone app see my Antelope Zen Q and the ASIO drivers but Scaler 3 no sign of ASIO, by design or a bug?
I just noticed this shortcoming as well. All these Windows and Direct Sound drivers generally have high latency and are largely unusable in practice. Will there be an ASIO driver for the standalone version in the future?
Yeah it is strange there is no ASIO support for the standalone, however by loading Scaler 3 into PluginBuddy (free) you can use ASIO with little to no noticeable latency…
Cheers
Ryan
This is by design. Maybe in one of the future releases.
Yes I noticed this - definitely needs fixing.
Anyway, it seems to me that Windows Audio in exclusive mode (WASAPI) is as good as ASIO nowadays, at the point I switch from one of them to the other only if the audio crashes
ASIO is the benchmark for Windows base DAWs, VSTs. It’s a major oversight for a standalone. I obviously can use ASIO in Reaper or Blue Cat Patchwork, but still, I believe I could achieve better latency with ASIO in standalone. Just my 2 cents.
Yes, exactly no ASIO with Standalone - This is not good for me. Ya, I can work around it but shouldn’t have to.
It is strange indeed that there is no ASIO support in the standalone. It begs the question of whether it should even be called a standalone app if it needs to run inside a wrapper in order to be used live.
It does seem odd as S3 appears to be using a “standard” Audio/MIDI settings dialog box. Maybe part of a standard API library IDK?
Here’s a very similar one in a free app (Plugin Buddy) which includes ASIO
and yet the almost identical one in Scaler 3 doesn’t.
I don’t know for standalone, because I don’t use it
And I don’t know how much latency you need
In my case, in Bitwig, the WASAPI lets me go down to 10 ms, that is the same value of ASIO
Reading posts in other music portals, it seems that WASAPI exclusive mode is in pair with ASIO now
So, why not trying it and see?
Asio Not available… I 44K the highest sampling rate for Standalone scaler??
Here is Scaler 2 Standalone (Using Tone2) and it had ASIO with tons of Audio output options. I am confident this is simply an oversight and we will see ASIO for the standalone in a bit..
Don’t understand why this has not gotten more air time in the forum. The 1.0.1 beta still has audio output issues for me without ASIO. The output options just do not work well with my MOTU and Win 11 system - the windows drivers all have timing issues.
Noted here as well. With no ability to interface with my RME UCX-II - standalone is essentially useless at this point.
I find it baffling that they even included this Audio/Midi Settings dialog in the first place as having to resort to ANY “Windows Audio” driver for audio/composition/MIDI controller requirements is like a poke in the eye to anyone who made the effort to purchase a professional interface.
If Scaler 3 is aimed at getting pro users to move away from their professional interfaces and accept their crappy built in Reaktek onboard sound chips as the defualt position for standalone - they need to rethink this rollout.

With no ASIO and no MIDI out I think the standalone didn’t really get much love and/or was the poor relation during development. It probably doesn’t help that Davide and some of the team seem to be predominantly Mac users so ASIO is not a thing.
But I think those improvements will come. In the meantime the VST2 of Scaler 3 runs very well with ASIO inside the free Nanohost from Tone2 (no MIDI out though). Linky: NanoHost freeware - minimalist VST host
+1 ASIO is essential for Windows audio if you want high quality and low latency.
SAVIHost works with the VST2 and has ASIO support, MIDI in and out.
Tone2 - YES… Thank you - that actually appears to work very well. Exactly how I run Scaler2 Standalone for years. Now there is no rush to get this fixed in Scaler 3.
