Standalone - Output midi with no audio - Playing by Computer Keyboard

Hi,

I wanted to ask for a couple of improvements in scaler 3.2.

I would love to be able to output midi when using the standalone version of Scaler 3 without being forced to select an audio interface.

And I also would love some kind of Keyboard playing for the selected section, like I have when I use the plugin version and native DAW qwerty support.

Thanks in advance,

Mauro.

Hi @mauronedj
Welcome to the forum.
Just to clarify are you referring to Desktop Scaler 3?
You can use your computer keyboard to play notes and Z/X to move down/up Octaves. Maybe you need to click on the Scaler 3 Keyboard first for it to become active.
Could you explain your MIDI request a little more with some device details etc?

Ciao @davide ,

thanks for the reply!

I tried the keyboard in Scaler Standalone (the desktop version, not the plugin), and it works, but only after I first click a key with the mouse. After that, if I click away, like changing the chords or moving the focus away, the keyboard stops responding! For a quick workflow this is a real problem and slows things down a lot.

In the plugin version, it seems like the ability to use QWERTY keyboard keys gets lost when clicking in certain parts of the window. A better behavior might be to only “grab” the keyboard when a search box is active, and you actually need to type letters.

Regarding MIDI, I’ve attached a video.

Scaler 3 Standalone Problem

As you can see, Scaler Standalone only outputs MIDI data when an audio output is selected. I don’t want Scaler to output any audio at all, only MIDI!
I’ve connected the desktop Scaler to Ableton via LoopMidi on Windows, and I tested it on Mac as well; it behaves the same with the native macOS midi drivers.
Hope it’s a bit more clear now, and thanks for your time!
