Scaler 3 activation problem

Final update: Today I finally got a full refund after involving PayPal.

I am so pissed off right now!!! Why do I only get 3 activations? It is MY software. I payed for it for christ sake…I should be able to activate and install the software as many times I want, the way I see it…If you want/need to “clean” your laptop and start over with a clean slate every now and then…You can’t…You´re just allowed to do that three times…Even though I own it and have payed for it!!! Completely insane, in my opinion…
Why can’t all plugins be like Fabfilter or Valhalla? Never an issue or problem with activations and installment or anything like that. Everything works all the time, every time, smooth and easy. Why is that? They are doing something right and you are not.
From now on I will stop using plugins that have a limited amount of activations…

Hey @janne.trumma Don’t stress and no need to get frustrated. We will introduce an ability to deactivate in your account soon. In the meantime if you ever need more activations, create a ticket with support. We will give you more. There’s no issue.
Oh and I want to point out that there wouldn’t be many producers in the world that would have more music software and plugins than I do, and I consider 3 activations well above par! I won;t point out the amount of companies that actually restrict me making music,

Well…that is at least something to look forward too…Great…but to say that there is no issue…Well for me it’s quite an issue… and a disappointment since I saved up money for this software and waited for so long. I use Scaler 2 every day. I work as a songwriter and musician. It’s my job. It’s not an hobby for me, you see. I must be able to clean-out my Mac all the time to make it safe, stable and reliable. Do you mean I should be satisfied with having to “beg” for new activations every third time? Its easy for you to say there is “no issue”.

Can you explain to me why a lot of companies don´t even touch this “activation-madness”, and everything works just fine…What was wrong with the Scaler2-modell of installment and activation, by the way. It was perfect. Why did you have to mess with it? I also own a lot of music software and must say that to activate and install Scaler 3 was one of the most weird, messiest ways I’ve ever seen…Untill you fix the ability to deactivate I’ll keep on with Scaler 2…

I think they are just trying to make it that bit harder for people to pirate it.
Although if you believe some of the posts on forums like KVR and Reddit a hooky version of S3 was in the wild within a day of release. Of course, it may not be true and the posts get taken down pretty quickly but there were even a few with links (briefly).

I’m not sure how effective anti-piracy measure are these days, and developers have to be careful not to inconvenience their legitimate users too much. I hate the plugins that insist on “phoning home” every month or two because my music laptop is 100% offline. I’ve given up trying to keep the desktop offline though.

I’ll bet if there is one in the wild it installs a lot easier! :rofl: You’ve hit the nail on the head about inconveniencing legitimate users. In the past I’ve bought software products and the developer suddenly disappeared and their site went with them, and as paying customers many of us got shafted, so I’ve learned from experience that when you pay for something you can still be denied using it. Developers always say we’re here to stay, but life takes over. In the case of one it was a marriage break up that sent the developer off the rails, and another was serious illness, but could it could easily be one of a million other reasons these days. BTW I got my refund at last after getting in touch with PayPal. I’m very disappointed with this whole licensing let down.
