Sync to DAW

Hi Folks,

I am working on a composition in Studio One Pro 6. I want Scaler 3 to start playing at measure 53. I have a region on the Scaler 3 track starting at measure 53 and continuing. But Scaler is playing before measure 53. Do I have to put 52 blank measures in Scaler 3?

Thanks!
Joe B

I am having the same issue in Logic Pro 11.

Hi @lorila Welcome to the forum. If you have DAW Sync Mode ON (you can check in Settings or right click on the Play button) Scaler 3 will follow exactly your position in Logic. There should be no exception. You can see me doing this in all of my videos. Can you and @joebataz post a picture or video please? See below

Thank you for responding. Yes I see that now but for some reason my view in Scaler is limited to measure 15. If I go beyond measure 15 on my DAW scaler does not track to any measures beyond this. I can’t see beyond measure 15 in scaler. At the top, I can see that scaler is tracking to a measure beyond 15 but I cannot see it. The screen seems locked.

Ok I get it, what happens if we want to start writing a bar 51 for example. We can’t see it in Scaler because we have no chords there. This needs to be addressed in that you can scroll to any position. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hi davide,

Any idea when this will be fixed? I bought Scaler with a specific piece I’m writing in mind. But now I can’t get Scaler to come in when I want it to and I also can’t understand how to get MIDI control of volume using an automation channel in my DAW.
Right now I’m doing testing in both Studio One 6 Pro and Logic Pro on 2 Mac platforms; an old Intel based iMac running OSX Ventura 13.7.4 and aMacBook Air with an M2 running OSX Sonoma 14.2.1. Not in a hurry to upgrade to OSX 15 Sequoia.

Thanks,

Joe B

I must say that I am throughly disgusted. Scaler 3 was supposed to be a tool to help with my compositions. At this point in time all it does is take disk space. I haven’t seen a single post or email saying this issues has been addressed and it has been well past a month when I first posted this issue. I feel that my money was wasted because of the extremely narrow conditions this tool will operate in. What bothers me even more is the total lack of response, just more sales pitches.

BTW, it also has this issue in any other DAW, i.e. Logic Pro, Reaper, Cubase, etc. that I have tried. Shame…

Strong vitriol Joe. Are you talking about being able to scroll to any measure? That’s there in 3.1 and due in a few weeks. Likely May 21st along with a host of other features.

I am sitting on a composition that I had hoped to submit for a movie trailer. Having Scaler come in at that particular measure would’ve drastically changed the timbre of the piece in exactly the way I wanted, from a punk anthem to a delicate SteinwayD piano with alto-flutes playing from the shadows of harpsichord bisbigliando all beautifully crafted using Scaler, with a choral platform for Scaler to rest on.
Yes, I was extremely disappointed, hence my post. Hopefully the issue will be cleared up for my next submission. There are things that Scaler does that I love, but not being able to place it where I want in a composition is very limiting for the flexibility it offers.

I score to picture everyday with S3. You can use external trigger notes (like S2) with DAW Sync off. Or you can run in DAW Sync and use the internal loop in S3. Then you can write wherever you want. There are plenty of workarounds although that is not allaying the issue we have of S3 auto positioning to the chords you have which currently doesn’t allow scrolling to any measure when there are no chords in S3. As mentioned this is addressed in 3.1 due soon.

davide,

thanks for the response and I’m glad you can relate to how I’d like to use scaler 3. PLEASE let me know when the update comes out.
Thanks,
Joe B
