Help with syncing/playing in Logic Pro

Hi,

I’m running the latest version of Scaler 3 inside Logic Pro (Sonoma 14.7.1 version on macOS) and I keep running into a frustrating issue.

  • When I start a brand-new empty Logic project, Scaler 3 works perfectly. DAW Sync functions correctly, and the chords I select play back in time with Logic’s transport.

  • However, after I start building the project (adding more channels, instruments, or plugins), Scaler 3 suddenly stops responding to playback. The play button inside Scaler shows that it’s synced to Logic, but no chords are triggered and nothing plays back.

  • This happens in both new and pre-existing projects, which makes it really difficult to rely on Scaler in actual work sessions.

Things I’ve already tried

  • Verified DAW Sync is enabled inside Scaler.

  • Made sure Scaler is loaded as a MIDI FX on a Software Instrument track.

  • Tested with Logic’s stock instruments (E-Piano, Alchemy, etc.).

  • Performed a full Audio Unit reset in Logic’s Plugin Manager.

  • Updated to the latest version of Scaler 3 Version 3.1.

My question

  • Has anyone else experienced this exact issue?

  • Is there a known fix or workaround that actually works?

  • Is this being addressed in an upcoming update?

Hi @bijanstylez, welcome to the forum and thanks for your detailed post.

We’re not familiar with this exact behaviour in Logic, and our team regularly uses Scaler 3 with Logic in ongoing sessions without experiencing the issue you’ve described. Since you mentioned you’re on Scaler 3.1, could you update to the latest version which is v3.1.1 and let us know if the problem persists? This update includes a number of important fixes and stability improvements, including fixes related to project corruption across various DAWs.

If you still encounter the same issue in v3.1.1, please let us know - ideally with a video showing what’s happening. Cheers.

Thank you for your reply. I have now updated to Scaler 3.1.1, but unfortunately the same issue is still occurring in Logic Pro.

I have recorded example footage showing both an empty project (where Scaler works as expected) and an existing project (where the problem occurs) to highlight the bug. I also added another chord plugin (Mixed In Key) in the same session to demonstrate that it works fine, which suggests the issue is specific to Scaler.

Just a quick note that there is no Sound unfortunately but you can clearly see from Logic’s Level meters where there is sound and not.

Hi @bijanstylez. Thanks for your reply, and sorry to hear the issue is still occurring after updating to 3.1.1. The links you’ve shared are currently private, so we’re unable to view them. Could you please set them to unlisted instead? Cheers.

Hi Steven, Please find two private YouTube links for your attention. Unfortunately no sound but you can clearly see the problem.

1 - Empty Logic Project with Scaler 3 - Working fine.

2 - Existing Logic Pro Project with Scaler 3 - Not working!

Thanks

Hi @bijanstylez, I was able to view the first “working” link, but the second “not working” link is still private so I can’t view it. Could you please set that one to unlisted so we can take a look?

I have tried to provide a updated link for you but instead I have received emails saying ‘‘Post hidden by community flags’’ ?

@bijanstylez This is not a bug but expected behaviour. You are cycling around Bar 33 in your second video whilst being in DAW sync. But you only have two chords populated. Go to the Arrange Page in Scaler and look at the timeline. You either populate as per your DAW or you can turn the cycle on in Scaler 3 and it will behave as you expect it to.

There are many tutorial videos you should watch which will help you understand Scaler 3. The most recent version also has a on-board tutorial. It’s a powerful program that is worth investing some time into getting to know it.
