I have Scaler loaded as an instrument on a track in Logic. DAW sync is enabled in and a chord set is loaded in Scaler.
I have Alchemy loaded on another track and I have the track’s internal MIDI In set to receive from the Scaler rack and Input Monitoring is enabled.
If I select the Scaler track and play by MIDI keyboard, it triggers Alchemy, as expected. However, when I press play in Logic I was expecting to hear the chord set loaded in Scaler triggering Alchemy, but it’s not working. Can someone please point out what I am doing wrong? Is the Scaler track only outputting MIDI when I play it with my keyboard?
Hi @Tedness. With Scaler 3 in DAW sync mode, only the main track (section C) will play automatically when pressing play in your DAW. So be sure to move the chords to your main track first.
If you have done this, perhaps you could share a screenshot of Scaler 3 in its current configuration so we can try to figure out what is going wrong.
The chords in section C of Scaler 3 follower sound when I press play in Logic, as expected. I have MIDI In on the Alchemy track set to receive from the Scaler 3 follower track. When I press play, I was expecting to hear Alchemy triggered by the Scaler 3 follower track, but nothing is happening.
Shouldn’t Alchemy be playing the same chords as those in section C on the Scaler 3 follower, or am I not understanding how this works correctly?
Hi @Tedness you’ll want to set your Alchemy track’s MIDI input to Scaler 3 Instrument Output, not Instrument Input. So Alchemy receives the MIDI coming out of the Scaler 3 plugin.
I’m also having an issue with the internal MIDI routing of Scaler 3 in Logic Pro.
When I set everything up on a track, I can hear the sound from Scaler 3.
But as soon as I activate another track, the track played by Scaler 3 goes silent.
As per my video you will need Input Monitoring on to hear multiple MIDI tracks receiving MIDI in active in Logic (click the ‘I’ next to the Record button on all the channels you want to hear).
