Logic Pro multi ch out midi setup

Hi there folks

I am using the trial version of scaler 3 with Logic 11.2.2, and have followed the instructions as per the “MIDI output - DAW routing guide” for creating a multi channel midi output setup.

However on step 4 (Steps followed shown below);

When setting Internal MIDI In - it does not give me the option of setting to Instrument Output. It only shows instrument input as a option. Please see snapshot.

Could someone please look at this and let me know if there is something I am doing is silly or if this is some form of restriction on a trial version. Or is there particular logic setting I need to change to make this available to me. Welcome all support. Thank you so much. Can’t believe how amazing scaler 3 is. Really has opened my world.

STEPS I HAVE FOLLOWED.

1. Start by adding the Scaler 3 instrument plugin to a Software Instrument track.

2. Then set a unique MIDI output channel for each Scaler 3 track which you would like to externally route MIDI from.

3. Create a new Software Instrument track in Logic and add a software instrument.

4. Using that track’s ‘Track Inspector’ panel, set ‘Internal MIDI In’ to ‘Instrument Output’, and choose your Scaler 3 software instrument track as the source.

5. Then for ‘MIDI In Channel’ select a channel corresponding with the MIDI output channel selected for the desired MIDI source track in Scaler 3.

6. Then make sure Input Monitoring is enabled on the recipient Software Instrument track, and start playback in Scaler 3.

Hi @hamishbamford And welcome to the forum. See this post and let me know if it helps!

Hi @davide and thank you. I have recently discovered Scaler and it really has changed my relationship to working with and creating music. It give me an ability to convey myself which was not previously possible. So would just like to honour that in you and team for all that you doing. I certainly appreciate it. :yellow_heart:

In regards to internal midi in - my issue is that the midi ‘instrument output’ doesn’t show as an option to select. It only gives me the option to select ‘instrument input’

I don’t quite know how else to problem solve the issue, assuming the trial version is identical to the paid version, ie there is no limitations on the trial equivalent?

any thoughts on what my be creating the above would be most welcome.

Very hard to see what else you have going on there but please try this in a vanilla Logic session:

  • Create a Software Instrument track and load Scaler 3 (Instrument - not audio or control).
  • Create a second Software Instrument Track and select Internal MIDI In
Now you should see the Instrument Output exactly as attached.
