Manually inputting notes into Scaler 3

Hi all

Is it possible to input manually notes into Scaler 3, to create a chord, like you did on Scaler 2 when selecting a blank pad and playing the notes on the keyboard?

Thanks

Yes, it is in the record mode thing. I have gotten it to work erratically. I am not really sure which is the best way to set it up. Still playing…

Hi @lynnfield72

Yes you can. You have to push record button and then you choose Detect Midi and push red button. Here is 2 picture.

How to open mixer again after having piano roll opened?

I mainly use Scaler as a midi FX on tracks, with Scaler 2 you just pressed notes on the onscreen keyboard to set a chord, do you know if this is possible in Scaler 3? midi / audio detect and capture midi don’t work

Just open a fresh instance of Scaler 3 and go to the Create Tab and you should be on the Circle of Fifths page. Start entering notes on Scaler’s keyboard

If you are in the Arrange page looking at the MIDI Editor, there will be two large icons to the left of the vertical piano.

  1. MIDI Editor
  2. Mixer (grayed out)

Click the ‘Mixer’ icon and the MIDI Editor will be replaced with the mixer.

@JKFashisco, Where are my manually-entered chords being placed (recorded)? I did exactly what you said: “push record button and then you choose Detect Midi and push red button”, but when I play a chord on my physical keyboard (which is mirrored onto the virtual keyboard) I don’t see any chords being laid down. Where is it placing my chords? I’m hoping to be able to create chord segments manually and work cooperatively with Sclaler’s suggestions to build complete chord progressions. IMHO this is a more natural way to compose.

Hi @joerollerblade and welcome to the forum. I did short video how I manually entered chords. I play with my Axiom Pro 61 Keyboard in Cubase 14 Pro DAW. My system is Windows 11 Home. Here is no audio, 'cause I have not that kind video program that can capture audio. Hope this video helps
