I find entering chords in Scaler quite tedious, especially if you don’t care about the wizards that make creating a harmony easier.
I’d like manual text entry, or even the ability to type the chord directly from a MIDI keyboard.
I’ve seen the MIDI capture mode that generates a MIDI file containing the chords typed on a piano, but I haven’t seen an option to enter chords directly from the keyboard in Scaler (in the main track, for example). So it seems to me that all the recording options generate a progression that can be exported, but that this progression doesn’t affect the chord progressions in Scaler 3 (main track, chord set, etc.). Am I missing something?
Hey @riccoboni You can do both of these. You can search for chord in the Circle of Fifth Page and you can enter chord via your MIDI keyboard note by note.
If you haven’t already it’s worthwhile watching our tutorial videos which cover all of these features and more.
However, I’m looking for a way to enter chords without using the various assistants, simply by typing the name of each chord, either in the chord set or elsewhere.
I know that I can use the cycle of fifths tab to search for matching chords, but that’s still too tedious for my liking.
Sometimes you know the exact chord sequence you want and you want to enter it as quickly as possible, bypassing the assistants.
How does Scaler handle this use case?
