Copy a work file between Scaler 3.3.1 standalone and Scaler in Reaper

I am dying here. I can not open the same project file (I want the chordchart on the maintrack and I want all the work I did on the Arrange tab (I want it all. And I want to work Off-line in standalone and separately I want to also work in my DAW on the same content when I choose too. I have read all the notes on how to accomplish this feat. I export, I import, I move files from my harddrive to the special folders in the hidden ProgramData directory on my C drive in Win 11. The files I am looking for are never there. It appears there is a mismatch in the file extension between saving in xml and needing to importing in .sp3 Why is this so difficult if not impossible??

What does it take to get a response here? This is a serious problem for me. At minimum tell me that this all works fine and that I must be stupid if I can’t figure it out. Or confirm that it is not working as claimed. Or better yet tell me clearly how to do it. But don’t leave me hanging for days.

Hey @MusicStudent
A little difficult to understand what you’re trying to achieve here. If you save your session as a Preset then that covers everything. Then you also have options to save the Chord Set to your User Folder or export the Chord Set as a MIDI File. Sounds to me like you are confusing those three methods. It would help us if you give us some clear steps as to what you are doing/trying to achieve and then we can assist better and point you to the right resources.
Hope that helps.
PS If you save the Preset in standalone it should then open in any DAW and be in your User Preset list. See attached.

Thank you Davide for the response. Yes that helps. I hadn’t even added that confusion to my question - All the different individual ways to save. But, none have been working for me. All seemed to get stuck on saving an .xml file when a .sp3 file was needed to open. But, now I see I need to focus on saving Presets! OK, will work on that piece of the puzzle and will get back to you with a video if the problem persists. Dan

Now that you clarified I want to “Save a Preset”, the instruction from AI Overview “To save a preset directly from Scaler 3.3.1 inside your DAW, click the floppy disk / save icon located next to the current preset name in the top center of the Scaler interface” works like a charm. So why did I have so much trouble? I think it was the term “Preset”! Never have I saved a music file (composition) I am working on as a “Preset”. Usually just “Save” or “Save-As”. That terminology is odd! Must be non-US english. :slightly_smiling_face: But I am moving forward now. Thanks.
