Studio One 6 + Scaler 3 observations

Hello. Running an iMac Ventura 13.7.4. 4.2 Quad core i7 Studio One 6 latest version.

  1. Can’t seem to drag (copy) chords between instances of Scaler 3.
  2. Can’t configure outputs from Scaler 3 to individual channels as you can EZ Drummer 3. Please see photos.
  3. Generally good on CPU but random continual spikes occur forcing me to shut down Studio One.

I’m no tech guru so please excuse me if I’m missing something.
It’s a brilliant piece of software which is why I’m contributing.

I can confirm CPU spikes with Studio One Pro 7.

No CPU spikes here with Scaler 3 (Studio One v7 on Windows 10 22H2)

Scaler 3 is not a multi-output VST like EZ3 - so clicking on S1 “output” will get nowhere.

Scaler 3 IS multi-MIDI out - you can assign each track from the Scaler 3 arrange tab to send MIDI out to S1.

See my mini-tutorial (5 posts down) within this thread:

I was having bad CPU spikes using Scaler 3 and Studio One 6.6.4. I went through the drill of disabling AUVs, VST3s, ARAs, etc., to no effect. What appeared to solve it was shutting off iCloud backup AND ALSO disabling Carbon Copy Cloner while I was working. My suspicion is that the latter was the major problem. Anyway, the problem hasn’t reappeared since I did that.

Mini update:

The CPU spikes are the biggest problem for me. Eventually they cause my whole system to go into slow motion mode. That is until I shut down Studio One 6 and restart. But after restarting it still happens, even when every other application is closed.
I’m eager to get stuck into a new SC3 project but unfortunately I can’t at the moment.

RE the outputs - Hopefully Scaler 3 will become a multi output VST like EZD3 etc. That way after the initial composition / idea is complete, the project can then be fine tuned and polished off within my DAW. But I appreciate that this probably isn’t that easy to achieve!

Lastly. Random DAW crashes whilst resizing, editing / moving arrange parts around.

I agree that multi output (audio) would be a welcome addition essentially when trying to add fx to the tracks. Currently some 3rd party fx when added using the mixer in Scaler 3 mutes the audio. Additionally the DAW provides much greater control. It would also be handy for rendering the tracks to offload them from processing in Scaler. No idea how difficult this would be to implement but it would be a great addition for a future release.
