Scaler 3.0.1 causing errors/crashes in Studio One 7

Studio One_7_0_0_102470_Win x64_20250401_100948370.dmp (176.8 KB)
The new Scaler 3.0.1 will run fine for about 30 minutes, then, whenever you click in the UI, Studio One will display an “Unexpected Error” message, Scaler will become unusable and eventually freeze completely. When trying to remove the plugin, Studio One will crash.
I have attached a .dmp file that was created by Studio One, that shows that Scaler causes an access violation due to an invalid pointer.
Another crash dump - that is too big to be uploaded - shows that Studio One then crashes because of a stack overflow.

Thanks @MichaelS Have lodged this. In the meantime:

Please delete Scaler 3 Settings File and restart Scaler 3:

  • Mac → /Users/[NAME]/Library/Application Support/Scaler 3.settings
  • PC → C:\Users[NAME]\AppData\Roaming\Scaler 3.settings

Thanks for the quick reply @davide , I just wanted to add that I already tried the uninstall/delete settings/reinstall/reboot method, but that did not fix it. I now went back to 3.0.0 and no more problems.

Same issue here in 3.0.1 inside Studio one 7 when I try to arrange in scaler I get error message.

Same here. 3.0.1 crashes on most actions after a while. I’ve gone back to 3.0, and know that I can’t use Keys Lock reliably there. But it’s better than the crashes!

OK seems like an issue that somehow crept in from Scaler 3 1.0.1 have sent you all 1.0.4 and am prioritising this error. I think we have enough info to get it. Apparently only occurs creating more than one track?

Same issue here with 1.0.1, need 1.0.4

Might want to get 1.0.1 removed from plugininboutique or put a warning up.

I’m getting an “Unexpected error” on the arrange page when clicking to play a chord. It happens often but it doesn’t crash or freeze up once I click to close the error message. Thanks

Same here. Only on the arrange page, it doesn’t happen when I click the same chords on the browse page.

I saved a Studio One file that included Scaler 3 as the only plugin. When I try to open it comes up for a second and then crashes. I’ve tried multiple times with the same results.
Windows 10
Studio One 7

I removed the files as requested, and so far, so good.

Sorry can you confirm, you did a clean install with Scaler 3 1.0.4 and it resolved this issue?

can I get 3 1.0.4 because I’m getting a lot of crashes

I never received the updated file, but I did clean the files you said to. That appeard to help but I am on the 3.0.1 still.

Just missed the link to 0.4, found it. Although the reinstalling of 0.1 and deleting the user files seemed to work. BTW system: Windows f11 PRO, AMD 9950X, 4070 TI super (16 gig), and 64 gig DDR 5800 memory. 4 TB SSD. I will install 0.4 just in case I am now being lucky. Thanks.

I am a little curious as to why you are still on Studio One v7.0.0.0?.

v7.11 is the current release and cleaned up a vast number of issues that were present in the initial v7 release - which dates from Oct 2024.

Hi David, I to have Studio One 7 and Scaler 3, so I would also need the 1.0.4 update or patch…
