I got Scaler 3.2 a few weeks ago and I’m very pleased and impressed. However, I have a problem in standalone mode where it won’t load Kontakt 8, Komplete, Maschine nor Massive X. Instead I get a yellow exclamation mark in the sound button:
All my other plugins (Arturia, Spitfire, Soundpaint, UJAM etc) load fine and some of the standalone NI VST’s like FM8 and Reaktor also work OK. I’ve tried the various fixes suggested on this forum for the scanner but they don’t fix the problem and I don’t think that it is a problem with the scanner because it clearly finds Kontakt, Komplete, Maschine etc. Perhaps Kontakt takes too long to load (I have a lot of instruments) but that wouldn’t explain why Maschine or Massive X exhibit the same problem.
In my DAW (Ableton Live) also everything works fine and the NI applications all work fine too.
Hi @EvertG And welcome to the forum. Are you on a Mac or PC?
I have no problems loading these. The yellow exclamation mark suggests not available which makes me think, is it a permissions issue (Scaler 3 not having access to a custom folder) or a corrupt Plugin Cache file?
Have you tried ‘Rescan Your Plugins’ in Settings/Preferences and if you have please try quitting out of Scaler 3 and deleting ‘plugins.cache’ which will be in your ~Library/Scaler Music/Scaler 3
Then relaunch. Also run Native Access before you do any of the above to ensure you have the latest versions. Hope that helps!
Thank you very much for your note and it is helpful to know what the exclamation mark means. I am running Windows 11 and everything (Windows, Scaler, NI Access etc) is up to date. Also tried clearing the cache, running as administrator and reinstalling. Just now tried with Kontakt and Scaler and the scanner excluded from Defender and with full permissions for all applications but so far without success. I have the VST folders and the content on separate SSD’s. That is the case for all manufacturers so it should not be a problem but I try to experiment with folder locations and permissions a bit more.
Problem solved. Just in case somebody else comes across the same problem: I reinstalled Kontakt through Native Access and that sorted the problem. It didn’t take long, didn’t need any content to be reinstalled and also solved Komplete and Massive X even though I did not need to reinstall those. I suspect that the NI database got corrupted (komplete3.db perhaps) and that is shared by all these NI application. It did need a few restarts of Windows and the various applications but all seems well now. Very happy!
