When I try to scan or rescan for plugins, at the end I get an error message, “Error occurred while scanning your plug-ins! (Error 2)”. This happens in stand alone and .vst3 versions.
I end up with a couple plugins to choose from but most of mine (including Kontakt 8) is missing.
I noticed that some of my Arturia plugins are missing in both Standalone and plugin version and, however, they are clearly visible and usable in my DAW.
I have found a solution(ish) for me. It seems some plugins are unable to be used in Scaler and may be the source of the issue. In my case, Usynth and Khords can’t be imported. On my first import, everything seemed to be fine, but every subsequent import produced the Error 2 message.
In C:\ProgramData\Scaler Music\Scaler 3, I deleted plugins64.cache, plugins64.log, and plugins64.ignore. I could then run the import again and pick up some newly installed plugins that were getting blocked by the error. The incompatible plugins still don’t get imported, but I guess that’s just life.
Hi @sera and welcome to the community.
Scan was done and while scanning, I saw all my instruments, but when I tried adding one, there was none. I restarted standalone and most of the instruments were there, but I would say that 90% of VST2 are missing. “Error 2” that I had during my last scans was no more there. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks, @sera . The solution you suggested also worked for me. For anyone interested and for whom it might be helpful. Here are the contents of my .ignore file:
(Main highlights: It appears that all Ujam, a couple of Kilohearts, a few Heavyocity, and several iZotope plugins are ignored, perhaps meaning they are somehow incompatible with the way Scaler 3 works.)
Am I missing something or is there no way to set the location of your VST folders?
Even an editable config file would be better than nothing.
Anyway, after running a scan for both VST3 and VST the only 3rd party plugins available in Scaler standalone are by Waves. Absolutely nothing else! This is weird as I watched the scan and was definitely finding more than Waves plugins, even without any way of telling it where to look.
update to my previous above.
just opened scaler 3 .. for 2nd time since yesterday.
now all my vst/vst3 fx and instruments are visible in the mixer page.
maybe all that were needed was a computer restart.
Same problem. Did the initial scan at installation…nothing outside of what Scaler3 has internally shows up. Tried rescan a day later and could see as it’s scanning it’s seeing the directory my VSTs and VST3s are installed in. Upon completion of the scan there is only one external VST that shows up, a sampler made by WAVES.
