Hi everyone. Just letting you know Scaler 3.2.1 is now available at scalermusic.com. This one does lots under the hood to improve MIDI performance all round. It’s tighter and faster. Thanks to our Beta team and to all of our users for helping us here!

Fixed Suggest Mode button resizing incorrectly based on time signature.
Chord and Detection
Fixed an issue where selecting chord note profiles could unexpectedly change chord voicings.
Removed duplicate chords appearing in detection results.
Bass Follow
Bass Follow now defaults to one octave lower to better differentiate it from Divisi.
Stability
Improves stability in REAPER, Studio One, Fender Studio Pro, FL Studio and Cubase.
Fixed a crash when dragging a “None” FX slot to or from the master track.
That was expected. Before adding any new improvement features, stabilizing Scaler 3’s performance is definitely the right move.
The only point I would like to point out is that with some VSTs loaded directly inside Scaler, it is sometimes impossible to reopen them to change the patch. To be more precise, the window doesn’t even appear behind the DAW, it seems to get stuck inside Scaler.
I hope this can be fixed, as it would make the experience even better.
It would also be great to have more built-in note sequences in Scaler to expand the workflow possibilities. A random function, similar to what exists in some Captain Plugins presets, could also be a nice addition.
Hope this helps, and thanks for the efforts made so far.
Hi @AlexKidd There’s one issue we have on our list where in Logic Pro desktop plugins reopen (once you have closed them) behind the DAW however we don’t know of any instances occurring as you have described. Can you please provide your setup details and the plugins that are exhibiting that behaviour so we can try on our end?
Thanks so much. I downloaded 3.2.1, did some work with it today in Reaper 7.65, and was pleasantly surprised by how much better Scaler handled the workload. Very, very happy, thanks Scaler Team for another awesome update.
I’m experiencing a few issues when using Scaler 3 with external synth plugins in Logic Pro.
System:
MacBook Pro M1 Pro
macOS Sonoma (latest version)
Logic Pro (latest version)
Issue 1 – Plugin window cannot reopen inside Scaler (Omnisphere 3, Zebra2, or Diva). The plugin window opens normally at first. However, if I close the plugin window, I sometimes cannot reopen it. Clicking the plugin again in Scaler does nothing, and the window does not appear, even behind Logic or on another workspace.
Issue 2 – Stuck / ghost notes
Sometimes when a synth is triggered from Scaler, another instance of the same instrument seems to continue playing indefinitely, even after the chord should have stopped. It behaves like a stuck note or a duplicate voice that does not release.
These problems occur intermittently but regularly enough to interrupt the workflow.
Hi @AlexKidd Strange as 3.2.1 plugs now re-open front and centre for me with the same setup whereas prior version it would open behind.
As for stuck notes this version is behaving best for us. Obviously when triggering chords and quick notes as S3 does a third party plug can always stick more than others - Arturia’s CS80 4V is particularly bad at stuck notes. If you haven’t already do try and reinstall, restart your Mac and open a vanilla session (no template) and try again.
What I don’t fully understand is that I use the same instruments (for example Omnisphere and others) directly in the DAW without any stuck notes. The issue only appears when they are triggered through Scaler.
So it seems like the MIDI behaviour might be related to how Scaler is sending note-on / note-off messages rather than the instrument itself. That’s why I’m mentioning it, because in normal DAW usage these instruments behave perfectly.
Another thing I noticed is that when I load a plugin inside Scaler, if I close the plugin window I’m sometimes unable to reopen it afterwards. In a normal DAW environment this behaviour doesn’t happen, which is why it stood out to me.
I really like the concept and the musical workflow of Scaler, but these behaviours make the experience feel a bit inconsistent in practice. I’m mentioning it because fixing these MIDI and window handling issues would make Scaler an even stronger composition tool.
