Maybe this is a dumb question and there’s a big button staring me right in the face but, with Scaler 2 it was obvious how to switch to scale detection mode in midi or audio. I just spent the last half hour trying to work out how to do it in Scaler 3 and am still non-plussed. I can’t find any threads or info in the instruction videos.
Can anybody help me out?
Thanks
Mark
There is user manual: Click on Scaler logo , select Help and open Manual.
Open Scaler 3, click on the record button:
This will open recording panel:
Use hamburger (1) to select : Detect MIDI (2)
then click on record button and play.
That’s strange!
In my system, the Save icon is different
Just a square without anything inside…
Got it!
It is like yours when using Capture MIDI, but it is an empty square in the other 2 options; not very clever to me: the Save icon should not change
But nobody read the manuals!
Me included LOL
And I also curse the translation agencies when I am offered to translate a manual at a lower rate because nobody read the manuals
I love using the All Scales function for this. Just choose notes and all the corresponding scales appear. https://youtu.be/tb1vQGrYUxs?si=VONIk2U0LdBDtRWD&t=240
Cheers Miki. I appreciate the support.
Best
I missed this too after reading the manual a few times.
The specifics regarding MIDI are a bit nebulous and are all nested in a single paragraph. Would it be possible in the manual to perhaps tidy that up?
Maybe something like this:
After the bullet points, put a one-line synopsis of each method.
CAPTURE - Record MIDI from a controller or software instrument
DETECT - Analyze an existing MIDI region or file
This is a big feature and its implementation could be a touch more intuitive for all us great unwashed out here.
Thanks for the feedback also @Steven
In the meantime the video tutorials cover most things and we are adding more!
