Hello everyone … may I first congratulate all the technical staff involved with Scaler 3, and the NEW release that they have provided.
I am thoroughly enjoying the exploration of this new software, and getting to know all about it via all the awesome videos provided by the Scaler Music videos on YouTube.
I do however have one initial problem … for some reason, I am unable to obtain all my various plugins within the "Sounds > Instruments " section. I have scanned all my plugins via the “Settings” option, but none appear in Scaler 3 Instruments section?
The only thing I can think of, is that I have created a unique folder, where I keep all my plugins … is it just that Scaler 3 is unable to locate this folder? If so, do I have an option to direct it to that particular folder?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
I thank you all in advance!!!
I agree wholeheartedly with your congrats and also share your issue. I did an initial scan and it pulled back the folders but no contents. I wonder if a second scan will start to fill them? I trying that now and will report back. P.s. I’m on a silicon Mac.
Hi @Phillyn17 Thanks for the feedback always appreciated. I am not a windows user but I assume you are talking about custom folders for your VSTs? I think @Tristan can help here.
Okay here is my analysis.
My first attempt failed due to a timeout (screen fell asleep during scan.)
My second attempt got the folders but no content. ( I picked all formats 1st, vst3 and au) I believe it also timed out.
so with folders already listed by Manufacturer I hit scan VST3 only, Worked, all vst3’s 500 or so are listed.
That’s great news @Ze3b … thank-you!!
Can I ask where you stored these VST3’s? As I mentioned, I created my own folder associated with my DAW Reaper, so questioned if Scaler 3 is directed to the folder.
I may try positioning several in the “Steinberg/VST” folder, and within the “Programme Files > Common Files > VST3” section … fingers crossed!!
OK … I think I am getting somewhere … from what I can gather (I may be wrong) but Scaler 3 sees to be locating VST3 plugins within the latter folder “Programme Files > Common Files > VST3”. I positioned a few existing VST3’s in there, and Scaler 3 seems to have located them. I’ll spend a little more time on this later on, and keep you briefed on the results.
Cheers!!
Be careful that other plugins may stop functioning if they try to find their VST3 (and other data) in the folder stated during their installation…
Maybe that duplicating them in all places works, but because SC3 is becoming a sort-of DAW I think that devs should add the option to find plugins in multiple folders, not only the default one
Great!! Taken on board and understood.
Thanks … I’ll continue my efforts tomorrow and see what happens, I will copy the VST’s to the folder mentioned, and not just move them completely.
I agree, it would be a great idea if the devs gave us the function and opportunity to personally locate VST folders ourselves.
Cheers!!
Hi @Phillyn17
I think you would choose your last suggestion. Good way to find where it is located is to do a search on scaler 3 or any vst3 that loads into Reaper reliably.
Yeah, I’ve tried applying certain VST’s to individual folders, but there is no reliability, and proves a lot of, what I consider to be, unnecessary work … and I’ve given up the effort for now.
I feel that the devs should really have provided the facility for the user to locate their own VST location, which would have made life so much easier in my view.
Here’s hoping that they will change this soon, because the use of personal VST’s is hopeless at this stage. I’m disappointed, because @davide was so excited about this function in one of his introductory videos … very sad!!!
Yes, I agree … but unfortunately I haven’t been given that choice, it does not work. This was a function that was promoted, indeed boasted about in one of @davide 's videos, he explained how impressed he was using it. I use Reaper, and am aware that these facilities are available on there, and I intend to continue using that function as I always have done.
I’m certainly not criticising the product, I love it, and I’m enjoying getting to know how it works (in my newbie way), I’m not as tech savvy as many folk on here who are detecting even bigger, more important issues.
You may consider it a minor issue perhaps, but it would be nice to be able to use it.
Let’s hope the devs discover a solution soon eh??? Fingers crossed!!
Stay safe!!!
The issue here is with custom folders on Windows so we are looking at some kind of ‘folder-path management’ to the settings in Scaler 3, to store additional plugin folder-paths. I’d like this for a 3.1 so hopefully you will have that solution in a few weeks!
Thanks so much @davide, that’s brilliant … I’m not giving negative feedback to Scaler 3 … I love it!!!
I was always confident that you and the rest of the guys/devs would address this issue.
I’ll hold fire on any further VST location work until I hear of the new release.
Good luck with your efforts … and thanks for the response.
Much respect to you all!!!
