Motions restrictions in arrange page

When you add a track in the Arrange page, you can access all of the motions. However, once you’ve selected a motion, when you try to change the motion used, you’re restricted to the motions in the subcategory you first chose. Is there a technical reason for this? From a UX point of view, surely it’s better to enable a user to change the motion however they like, rather than making them delete the track and make a new track. It also stops you from using multiple motions from different categories on the same track. Seems like an odd restriction if there’s not a technical reason for it.

It’s been brought up a few times and I didn’t really understand Davide’s explanation for the restriction.

There is a clunky way to get different motion types on one track.
You create two or more tracks, one for each motion type you want then you cut the clips, drag the bits you want onto one track and delete the extra tracks. Hopefully they will look at streamlining that process at some point because it’s really useful to be able to mix stuff like passages with arps etc.

But doesn’t it make sense to separate this different things on different tracks, so I can have different fx e.g. for other types of motions. Especially when in future we will see folders where we can concentrate things belonging together.

You’re free to do that if that’s how you choose to work, but forcing that paradigm on everyone doesn’t make sense. Reducing a product’s flexibility and usefulness is unlikely to lead to a better product.
