I want to start by saying that I love Scaler3. It’s an incredibly valuable tool for me as a musician, and it’s become a key part of my workflow. I genuinely don’t see myself working without it.
That said, it’s also been incredibly frustrating to use. I’m constantly worried it will crash or corrupt my projects.
Recently, I started a new project to test out the new 3.1 Lead/Follower functionality in Ableton, with the goal of building a full song using Scaler3. Things were going well, until I began experiencing issues where my project wouldn’t load unless I disabled Scaler3. This happened multiple times, and it shook my confidence. Thankfully, I had already drag-and-dropped all the MIDI into my tracks just in case. And good thing I did. This morning, the project crashed again unless I disabled Scaler3. I can’t imagine how devastating it would’ve been to lose all that MIDI.
At this point, I no longer trust Scaler3 with critical data like MIDI and will revert to using it more cautiously, the way I did with Scaler2. As powerful as it is, it’s just not reliable enough right now.
I’ll keep an eye on stability improvements in the coming months, but for now, I’ll be relying on my DAW to handle the data.
Thanks for making such an amazing product, but I have zero confidence in its reliability/stability at the moment.
