Scaler 3 | Ableton Live & Logic Pro | macOS Sonoma

I purchased version 3.0 in April. Crashed instantly. Have tried about every update since; updated MacOS as well. No results. Powerbook M3 Max 48Gb. Tried 3.2 on Sonoma 14.7.8 yesterday. Crashed after a few minutes. Have tried multiple Ableton Live 12 versions. Tried Logic Pro too. All in vain. Everything crashes as soon as I start working with Scaler 3. Sometimes instantly, sometimes after a few minutes.

Hi @sylvain_dee, welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear about this. Have you tried a clean install of Scaler 3.2? Instructions can be found at the bottom of this thread.

If the issue persists after a clean install, please let us know - and if possible, include the crash reports from Ableton Live and Logic Pro so our dev team can take a closer look at what’s happening on your system. Cheers.

Hi Steven,

I already tried the clean install.
I often work with Ample Sound Guitar plugins. These are very stable within Ableton Live. I found that everything crashes as soon as I start working with Scaler 3 in that setup. See Apple Crash file 251208_crash.rtf

So, I’ve been testing Scaler 3 in Ableton without other plugins. It’s then possible to do some minor work but it crashes every time after a while. I’ve never been able to use anything but the most basic features of Scaler 3.

To test Scaler 3, I recently have been following the “getting started” videos on Youtube. I got to the “Part 2 “ video at 7:40 minutes in. It’s the Explore wheel where you can Cmd+click a series of chords and add them to a Sketch progression. I saw that the chords in the progression were never in the order I selected them. When I drag them in the wanted order unto another progression and start clicking on them to hear the sound, Ableton crashes. See the 2 added Ableton Crash Reports.

I’ll try to follow the rest of the video to test Scaler 3 in my setup.

MacBook Pro M3 Max - 48 Gb
Built-in Liquid Retina 16” + HP E24q G4 display
Sonoma 14.7.8
Ableton Live 12.2.7
Scaler 3.2.0

I removed the crash files since I’ve no idea if they contain info that could put my computer’s security at risk. Is there a safer way to send you these files?

Kind regards,
Sylvain

Hi @sylvain_dee, that’s fair enough. Thanks for sending the report via DM - I’ve passed it on to our dev team. Cheers.
