How do you (permanently) stop scaler 3 from automatically playing itself?

Is there a setting a can change so it never does this? there is no stop button on the interface

ps I have this avant garde 1 preset playing a melody on a synth
basically it sounds ok and theres a beat behind it - whats the “next level” - like what is playing is I would call it a melody can I ask scaler 3 to make a corresponding baseline?

I guess ill just let the scaler 3 software dictate the workflow

No one replies…I guess I just use scaler 3 as a midi browser
there appears to be hundreds if not thousands of midi blocs in it

I think I can just import midi from scaler 3 then put a bunch of different tracks playing the same midi bloc with different instruments and thats enough variation to sound fun and nice

is there a way to filter and or search for the longest midi patterns in scaler 3? im curious to put the fewest number of notes on the longest midi blocs scaler 3 offers

In some ways I guess this is like a complicated expensive interactive way of listening to the radio ad free haha Ironically figuring out the daws shortcut to transpose an octave up or down has so far been the biggest leap forward Scaler 3 melody midi now plays an octave lower than the scaler 3 midi assigned to background pads/atmospheric sounds. Weirdly the midi is identical in both cases but with one instrument its a whooshy dreamy blur of (nice _) sounds the other is a plucky normal melody. I guess maybe its what you do with the midi more than actually what midi you wrote / or imported etc

Hi everyone,

I’m struggling to fully understand how to use Scaler 3 in a way that seems very natural for techno production. What I’d like to do is this:
1. Load a fixed MIDI progression from the Scaler 3 internal presets (like a chord progression from a genre or artist set).
2. Then, have Scaler 3 generate a bassline, melody, or arp that works in the same key and pairs nicely with the chords 3. If that’s not possible within one instance, can I route MIDI from one Scaler 3 instance (e.g., my chord progression) into another Scaler 3 instance and have the second one generate compatible “random” performances based on that?

I’ve tried using the Perform, Phrases, and Keys Lock modes, but I find the interface really overwhelming and I’m not sure how to pair fixed MIDI content with expressive/randomized generation in a clean workflow.

Questions:
• What’s the best way to load a chord progression and have Scaler 3 “improvise” something musically compatible like a bassline or arp?
• Is there a way to do this inside a single instance of Scaler 3?
• Or do I need to route the MIDI output from one Scaler into another Scaler instance?

Thanks in advance — just trying to get a cleaner workflow going for melody/bass ideas in my techno tracks.
