Creating a melody

Hi. Loving Scaler 3. Bit new to me but enjoying finding out what it can do. I’ve created a chord progression but trying to use it to create a basic melody with just single notes. I don’t want to use the variations inside Scaler 3 until I’ve got a basic idea. Is this possible to do. If so how?

  1. I did this to add drum tracks. On browser page, create a chord progression
  2. Add a new track and select it (highlight it)
  3. On the arrange page, add an instrument in the Mixer view then
  4. in the Midi edit view use the tools to add, move, select, delete etc. your melody
  • This works well for me for both melody and percussion tracks
  • You may have difficulty with the resolution (I can’t zoom the edit view)
  • I can’t rename the added tracks

Thanks for this. I was trying to test a melody sequence using my MIDI keyboard but for some reason the chords started playing and interfering. Hence why I asked.

What a very helpful bunch of people on here compared to other forums.

Good info. It does seem like Scaler is intended to only work with chords and patterns based on chords, although you can add melodies or anything you want manually as you describe.
