I have just tried my 1st Scaler 3 - audio export - just 8 chords / 4 tracks - the progress bar quickly gets to 99% and then freezes - any ideas I have tried 16 bit - 24 bit etc - loop and arrangement!
Hi @Musicalman, thanks for the post. We’re aware of an issue where audio export hangs when two or more third-party instruments are used across tracks – are you using more than one in your arrangement?
Yes, 3rd party effects and instruments have been tried, I have even deleted them one at a time, but without success which is unfortunate. I have been waiting patiently to select my own VST paths, but it seems I will have to wait a bit longer.
Hi @Musicalman, thanks for your reply. We haven’t been able to reproduce the export freeze with one or no third-party instruments. If you have any additional details about your arrangement, we’d be keen to know – there may be other variables contributing to the issue.
Support for specifying custom VST folder paths was introduced in version 1.0.6. You can rescan your plugins by going to Settings > Preferences (accessible via the ☰ icon on the right side of Scaler 3’s header). When you click ‘Rescan’, Scaler’s Plugin Scanner will launch, and you’ll see an ‘Add Custom VST Path’ button. You can specify up to three custom folders. After adding your custom paths, select ‘Scan’ to complete the process.
The experience with external instruments and effects remains inconsistent. One recurring issue is that when opening Scaler 3 as a standalone, the settings automatically select the Windows audio driver instead of the ASIO driver, which I prefer to use. This requires me to remember to switch it.
Additionally, I recently opened Scaler 3 within the Reason DAW, adding the same problematic saved presets I had created, and found that the audio exported successfully from within Reason..
PS, I have just altered my sample rate within the FireFace USB Settings from 44khz to 48khz and now the Scaler 3 standalone opens then disappears - I have changed back to 44khz and restarted my PC but still Scaler 3 standalone opens then vanishes - any ideas please to this error?
Version v3.1 was installed today, yet again the standalone Scaler 3 continues to freeze during export. I created a simple 4-bar loop using only the VST ASCENSION by CubicAudio and once again, the export freezes at 99%, requiring me to close Scaler 3. At this point, I lack confidence in the standalone version. On the other hand, all exports from Scaler 3 VST within the DAWS - (Neundo and Reason) function as expected.
Hi @Musicalman, thanks for your post. Yes, unfortunately this is still an issue we’re investigating. Just to clarify, a fix for this wasn’t announced as part of the 3.1 update, but it’s something that remains on our radar. Appreciate your patience in the meantime. Cheers.
