Error 2 Message

Its currently Sept 2 2025 and I am getting the Error 2 message again and the system used to recognize arturia’s analog labs instrument and now it doesn’t work. The system says it was disabled. I did not disable anything. I need this fixed ASAP. (WIN11 PC Ableton 12)

Hi @Gemini-musician. The error 2 message is usually encountered on Windows during the Scaler 3 plugin scan. Is that when you are seeing the error message?

I’m confused as to how that relates to your attached image ,which seems to be Ableton Live telling you that an Arturia plugin is disabled. I do not think this is related to Scaler 3 at all but perhaps I am misunderstanding you.

Assuming the error 2 message is appearing during plugin scan, first of all make sure you have updated to the latest Scaler 3 release, currently v3.1.1. That being said, this error is usually related to Windows user permissions for the Scaler 3 folder. This is detailed at the top of the known issues forum page, but let us know if you continue to see this error regardless: List of Known Issues, Descriptions, Solutions, Timing

Yes, the error 2 message happens when I rescan my plug ins. The image relates to the issue I am having to help whoever to understand the issue.

Well, I tried everything that you mentioned including setting permissions. I am current with the version 3.1.1 of scaler 3. It is still saying it is disabled even though I check the permissions. While scaler 3 scans the plugins it is showing analog labs.vst. I don’t know what else to do to make it work. I used it Sept 1 2025 with no issues and the next day Sept 2 and it is not working. What else can I do to get it to work?

Hi @Gemini-musician, just to be clear there does appear to be two separate issues here:

  1. Error 2 message during Scaler 3 plugin scan. This is related to Scaler 3 and is described on the Known Issues forum page.

  2. Your Analog Lab plugin appearing disabled in Ableton Live. As mentioned, this does not appear to be related to Scaler 3. So this is not something the Scaler Music team can assist you with.

After following the steps outlined on the Known Issues page, are you still seeing the Error 2 message during Scaler’s plugin scan? It sounds like you are saying the only persisting issue is the plugin being disabled in Ableton Live. As this is not related to Scaler 3, the steps outlined on the Known Issues forum page will not change this.

Well how do you know that the reason why the error 2 message appears because the plugin is disabled. And just so you know I’m not that deeply experienced with computer and software stuff to know whether scalar 3 is causing the disabling of the plug-in or not.

Agree with Tristan on this one. Your screencap refers to a specific issue that Ableton is having WITH that Analog Lab plugin.

I am not an Ableton user - but this appears to be a blacklist situation when Ableton does not like this specific plugin for reasons unknown.

Try rescanning them by going to Preferences > Plugins and clicking the Rescan Plugins button, OR hold the Alt/Option key while launching Live for a full rescan
