Bthelick (youtuber) Scaler 3 experience

I Tried Making EDM with Scaler 3 And It Was…

Bthelick youtuber using Scaler 3 with some feedback

Interesting and echoes some of my frustration with the product

This is how not to use Scaler. It’s more critical review on what Scaler can’t do for a EDM musician than what it can. On the other side, the guy shows some real limitations of Scaler 3 (recognizing chords from audio, chords-based music - what if we do not know scale?). It seems clear to me that he did not read the Manual prior to trying e.g. locking to scale or semis because he said it wasn’t there.

His followers are quite negative regarding Scaler - was it because they tried and found it hard to learn, or because the explanations of the youtuber were not clear? I just wonder.

Yeah, it’s a little unfortunate, really. There are actually some strong musical examples in the video and some genuinely constructive criticism - much of which is already on our roadmap.
What’s disappointing is framing it as “bashing Scaler 3 on behalf of the EDM community” while at the same time demonstrating it by pulling chords from some of the world’s most recognised EDM artists. That contrast undermines the argument somewhat.
Spending several minutes on the frustration of locating features like Scale Lock also feels a bit sensationalised. We provide tooltips, an onboard tutorial, a detailed manual, and multiple intro videos that cover this functionality, so presenting it as unusable or hidden doesn’t really reflect the full picture.
That said, feedback - even when it’s delivered harshly - is still valuable. We listen closely, it directly informs our roadmap, and it ultimately pushes us to keep improving. So while it’s disappointing in places, we’re still grateful for the visibility and the discussion it creates.

I watched the video as someone who doesn’t feel at ease in scaler 3, Bthelick was overall constructive and said he has frustrations based on his believe in the potential of scaler 3 and he even reached out in the video for possible collaboration.
A good thing if it expands it’s use to those doing electronic music.
I would like it to feel intuitive.
I purchased and updated it guessing it would become more so over time.
