Help with mastering Scaler 3

Hi David.

Thank you very much for Scaler. I can tell a lot of hard slog has gone into creating this Plug-in. Here is my dilemma. I have been Producing music for a bout 10 years. I also spend 45 years in the IT world, so yes I am use to change. I have always liked the KISS principle. I find Scaler to be so filled with options that its a daunting task for me to learn. Is there something available like “The Dummys for Scaler” What should my Roadmap be for learning how to use Scaler. I really want to use your Product. Currently I make use of the Mixed in Key Plug-ins which is easy and fast to use. Your feedback is highly apprerciated

Hi @abotha5 and welcome to the community.
No doubt, like any other writing tool, there is a level of depth and complexity there.
I am going to be making a few videos in the coming months designed to show some simple workflows and approaches. I actually use Scaler 3 differently for every track that I write. Recently, I have written several commercial releases under various artist names and also composed for a range of media. I used Scaler 3 differently for each of these tracks.
Sometimes I just came up with the chords and bound them to trigger from my DAW (recording just the trigger notes). I duplicated those tracks and used various third-party libraries. On other occasions, I wrote entirely within Scaler 3.
I think it’s about getting to know the feature set and then figuring out the workflows that suit you best. I guess, like a DAW, I only ever use 5% of its feature set on a daily basis.
We will release an ‘Official Scaler 3 Course’ in 2026 sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, the onboard tutorial, manual, tooltips, and this series of videos I think are the best place to get to know what is possible with Scaler 3. Hope that helps!

Wow…

A course for Scaler would help me a lot — really, a lot.

I’m a singer, and I started using a DAW and Scaler 3 just a little over a month ago. It’s a universe that used to feel completely uninhabitable to me, but I’m slowly starting to see some paths opening up in the middle of all that space.

Even knowing almost nothing, hitting my head against the wall many times, and losing a lot of time, Scaler has helped me in an exceptional way.

I don’t know if I’m the ideal target audience, but a course — or anything that would let me learn faster — would help me tremendously.

And, beyond the musical and arrangement side, it would also be great to have content about things like port/MIDI configuration, and workflows for using Scaler between my DAW (Studio One) and VST instruments.

For example: I usually start my songs on bar 3, and I use Scaler to play VST instruments. When I hit play in Studio One and Scaler is synced with the DAW, it starts playing what’s on the Arrange page from bar 1, and then everything gets messed up when the MIDI in my DAW actually starts at bar 3. Scaler also keeps sending MIDI to the DAW even when I mute the channels… anyway, it’s a bit of a mess — but I assume I just don’t know how to configure things properly yet (seriously, for a 44-year-old who only started using a DAW recently, all this MIDI routing stuff is pretty wild, lol, specially with multiple outputs in Kontakt and Scaler, etc).

Anyway, any help is more than welcome. And I can’t fail to express my admiration for the people who created and develop Scaler. I know there’s still a lot that could improve from a total beginner’s point of view like mine, but when it comes to what matters most — helping with chord progressions and harmony — Scaler has been absolutely wonderful for me.

Best regards to the community.
