I know that Scaler 3 does a lot more than Studio One’s Harmony Wizard, but can Scaler 3 do what Harmony Wizard does in the video below? I feel like it must be able to. I’ve been looking for a simple way to harmonize a melody in an orchestral sense, particularly in strings.
this section of this video (5:30) shows what I’m talking about
Does anyone know of a video that explains how to do it in Scaler 3 somewhere?
i apologize if its obvious.
thanks
I’ve been thinking of getting it to try it in conjunction with Scaler & Studio One to see what together they could do. But alas, it is only an add-on for Studio One at the moment I believe. Not supported in other DAWS.
No offense meant, but it would be more clear if you described the functions you want. I watched maybe a minute of that video and got bored, but what I saw in that minute you can do in S3.
offense taken. i said i was looking for “a simple way to harmonize a melody in an orchestral sense, particularly in strings”. The time stamp section of the video describes exactly what i’d like to achieve much better than I ever could because my knowledge of music theory is limited, which is why I use Scaler in the first place. sorry it didn’t hold your attention but I’m glad you were able to share your feelings.
This section (7:14) regarding selecting voices is also relevant to my question/request
I know Scaler can harmonize but I’m speaking purely in an orchestral sense (for example - Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Bass) like the video illustrates.
I believe you are looking for Divisi features in Scaler 3. It really doesn’t do that. I use Scaler 3 and Divisimate. It is very easy to use but it is much more feature rich than what Harmony Wizard is showing (at least based on what I can see in the video.) It isn’t cheap but it really works well.
If you use usecase, there is a command to break out each note in the chord and then you can drag them to each track, violin, etc. Cubase is the daw if you do that kind of stuff.
I am a Cubase user. Is usecase a piece of software? Can you share a link? I can’t find it.
Edit: was usecase a typo for Cubase?
If so, Can you share the process to do that? I’ve checked with notebookLM and it says that such a feature doesn’t exist but I could be explaining it wrong.
Thanks
Update:
I think I found it using the logical editor. Thanks
omg! from what i can tell, they removed the extract function from musical context in the logical editor since this video was made. what is up with that?
Edit: they didn’t. you have to create it. Instructions in the video
3.1 will allow muting of chord follow tracks so effectively you can voice however you want and send any not to any channel. Let’s see how that goes before adding more features. 3.1 should cover all use cases.
Ok great. Thank you. I know you have a lot on your plate but if at some point you could make a video showing how to set it up, I and I’m sure others will greatly appreciate it.
