Great news, David.
It seems to me that Scaler 3 will be plenty of new stuff to help us at composing.
Now, let’s patiently wait for March.

Hello ! I want to congratulate the programmers and designers of the update to 3.0
Now the graphical interface has flat buttons and looks more modern.

I have several doubts with this new update, since at the moment there is no video, I have questions especially regarding the implementation of the piano roll.

1-Until now Scaler could only play the selected chords, ok, so I understand that by adding the pianoroll you will be able to hear these chords + the piano roll notes, all at the same time?

2-If so, is it possible to import a midi file to the pianoroll?

3-This is the most important question that arises…is it now possible to modify or create “Performance” patterns, it would be very useful to be able to modify and personalize these patterns!!!

If the piano roll could be used for this function it would be awesome!!! Imagine having just a couple of bars on the roll and using it as a template for creating the “Performance”.

And is all, I’m impatient until March…I don’t know, could I bring that date forward??? I hope you make some videos in the meantime…especially about the piano roll and its usefulness!!!

Thank you very much for these advances!!!

Finally, been waiting so long. The small teaser the gui looks great I have high hopes. Been a user of this software from day one & I know it will be amazing.

Having to wait till March is going to hurt.

I am intrigued by all that midi on the arrange screenshot.

Looking like a solid upgrade, very keen.

Here’s hoping that the settings won’t be a standalone app again haha, that always perplexed me.

Congrats to the entire Scaler team! Looking forward to March.

@davide - while I’m here (and this is random!), but were you by any chance at the G for the Boxing Day test? May have walked past, though not sure. Cheers!

I can’t wait to get my mitts on it. I Still Love 2.91 and use it daily. You can say I’m a Scaler Lifer.

I love this and can’t wait.

Question-
Do we have an updated detect feature on this version?

An extract from the press release

MIDI Capture

New Audio Detection Technology means you can detect and analyse chords and scales from existing audio sources. With MIDI Capture, you can record Scaler 2’s output – whether you’re clicking keys or chords, or playing progressions – in order to drag the resulting MIDI outside the plugin.

If they get this right, this is huge for me :+1:

The new UI looks exactly like what I enjoy in Studio One every day. It is going to fit in beautifully.

Can hardly wait for March!

Cheers

Thank you to the entire team of Scaler! The “high” quality to price for Scaler is unmatched in the industry. I can’t wait to upgrade from my already awesome Scaler 2!

Having just looked on the website, I can say that I’m very pleased indeed to see the piano roll, and midi editing! Almost a “must have” by 2025, but so glad to see it directly within Scaler like this

Beyond that, I guess it’s going to be a matter of using it directly and seeing how it has evolved.

Will there be a trial available for v3? Just in case we find we don’t actually need the upgrade (a matter of cost basically)?

My account at Plugin Boutique says upgrade from 2 - 3 is free. Ordered Scaler 2 in December of 2023.

Hi,

I bought Scaler 2 on Jan 13th, 3 days ago. Will I get a free upgrade?

This is an Amazing program!
However, mine says the same thing! even when I go to the update page.
So, what’s the deal? Thanx again for this amazing program!

Just couple of weeks ago I bought Scaler 2

Would be great, but seems unlikely TBH.

If you mean getting chords from audio, I think they will. I’ve had a feature like that in an app for my Spark guitar amp for like 3 years now. Maybe it’ll be more better in Scaler though. Having it directly in a DAW along with the new chord track in Logic seems to be a powerful combo tbh.

Davide,
First, congrats! Seems like S3 is going in the right direction.

I am not sure if this qualifies as a feature request, but here goes. 1 min read.

I am glad to see that Piano Roll had been added… There is a demand for good Piano Roll VSTs… The best Piano Roll is considered to be from FL Studio. That DAW allows it to be used as a VST in another DAW. A DAW in a DAW, crazy right? But some people use it in this manner. Truth be told, I’ve also considered it. As of now, in my view only ToonTrack has a decent, highly editable piano roll in their products, but mainly they are interested in selling sounds and midi packs. So while you sort of can use it as MIDI sequencer and channel MIDI out to another synth, its a workaround.

Scaler, while has a sound bank, in my view always positioned itself as a composition MIDI tool. I think a decent Piano Roll will go a long way, if it’s done in similar manner as of FL and Toontrack, it could be used as a separate module for ANY midi editing and keep it in S3 project regardless of the DAW or other software S3 will be used in.

Bottom line, there is a demand for good Piano Roll VST, and S3 could be a Piano Roll on steroids for those people

Even though I bought Scalar 2 some time ago from Plugin Boutique, I decided to go ahead and spend the $49.95 to buy it again and get a free upgrade to version 3. I wanted to have future downloads from the Scalar website. I suggest that, to show our support for the Scalar team and their hard work that we do the same, instead of waiting for an upgrade price that might be less, but probably not a lot less. Just my 2 cents.
