I’ve been having some issues with hanging midi notes on Scaler 3’s output. I made a video of it. You hear a monophonic synth voice, the Main Track is set to no midi output, and the Phrase track is being sent to the synth. It starts playing accurately, but then from the 4th bar, it starts jumping between current notes and notes which should already have turned off, and after it has started looping come notes are skipped entirely.
I know there have been some posts about hanging midi notes before, and the issue was marked as solved. So maybe I’m doing something wrong here? If so sorry!
Hi @AMackie Strange that doesn’t sound like hanging but rather delayed notes. Can you try two things for me please?
Update to the latest version which featured a code merge that addressed several issues.
After installing and restarting if the issue still occurs could you please try and switch sample rates in Loopy Pro and potentially Loopy Pro is trying to force a non default system sample rate.
I’m having similar midi mis-timing or sticking issues, however it seems that it only happens when I play from Loopy Pro. When I just hit play in Scaler 3 I’ve yet to notice it happening.
I only just installed it this evening, so I assume I’m on the latest build from the Appstore:
I have some further observations that might help track down the problem.
sticking occurs as early as the second bar on the second playthrough of a four-bar loop, but not the first playthrough
sticking occurs ONLY when played from the LoopyPro play button (with Sync to DAW ON), but not the internal Scaler 3 play button.
stopping playback releases the note
in a simple phrase (eg Bass House 8, following a 4 chord sequence) it always sticks on the same notes, and those are the first note in bars 2, 3 and 4.
simply splitting those notes in the Midi editor prevents sticking, as does removing the first note in every bar but the first.
The sticking occurs whether I route the midi directly from Scaler 3 (eg on the Bass track vertical dot menu) or if I route all the midi out to Loopy Pro and then route it externally.
This happens even with Scaler3 internal instruments and no external midi at all! But it’s only really noticeable with instruments with a long decay / high sustain.
This does not happen using Scaler 3 as a plugin in AUM.
