Inconsistent MIDI output

I’m having a ton of issues exporting performance mode. I’ve marked a screenshot to help. I don’t get a clean bass performance, it adds too many notes. Plus it makes the loop longer than set bars. Problem is with Standalone version as well.
Also loaded up a Bass Performance in Scaler 2 to double check, and that works fine.
Mac M4 15.1.1
Reaper 7.27

I’ve reinstalled and restarted.

I’ve checked manual and youtube videos and I feel there’s nothing I can do different.

I am getting different MIDI output depending on what I am doing.

I have a simple chord progression in the main track.
It plays fine in the plugin.

Any other way I do it, I get wrong output. (missing notes, wrong notes)
If I record it to another track through internal MIDI routing, I get a different output.
If I drag the chords and drop them in another track, I get yet a different output.
If I use the MIDI export within Scaler 3, I get still another output.

I think you’re getting something similar to my issue as well

I have had one time midi output and now nothing anymore…

I have the same problem when exporting midi.

Ok all we have figured these two cases as not behaving correctly! Everything else should be working as expected. Please let me know if you have any other issues with Drag and Drop outside of these two:

  • Drag and Drop Main Track with Global Motion ON exports incorrect notes
  • Drag and Drop 1/2 bar chord progression from Main Track exports incorrect lengths

Thank you!

Wonderful news. I will not be downloading the first update and giving a while for things to settle a bit. Most things are working for me and I don’t want to just contribute to the noise.

Here is a screen recording demonstrating my issue. I’m using scaler 3 as a midi fx plugin, but it does the same thing on it’s own. There is a world of difference between what scaler plays, vs the midi I drag out. scaler is turned off when playing the midi back.

I feel like I must be doing something wrong?

Welcome @synthetik
See the posts above! Have merged your thread here.

I have found a workaround- if you go to the arrange view and add a track under the Main Track and then apply the performance to that and drag that out of Scaler, then it gives the correct notes and length. So far seems to work.

Weirdly, I find when exporting any ‘motion’ or performance from Scaler to FL studio, it doesn’t work as heard in the program (even with the same VST) - this could be the length of the notes, the amount of notes (some extra notes added) etc. I have double checked this with scaler 2 and there is no issue there.

I have found a long workaround which is to take each chord individually and place on seperate instruments and then copy and paste into the track I originally wanted them in. This does seem to work.

Any guidance on if this is a bug or me doing something incorrectly?

I just purchased Scaler 3. When trying to record Midi, it is not lining up when I export it and not on the same beat. I didn’t have this issue with Scaler 2. Not sure what’s going on. Hope it’s something simple…

Hi all. Scaler 3 1.0.6 includes improved MIDI timing for trigger notes and chords. Hopefully this addresses the issues raised in this thread. Let us know how you go, cheers!
