We’re excited to share that Scaler 3 is now available on iPad.
This is a dedicated, touch-first version of Scaler 3, designed to bring the full creative workflow of chords, melodies and musical exploration into a fluid iPad experience.
You can use Scaler 3 on iPad as both a standalone app and an AUv3 plugin, making it easy to sketch ideas on the go or integrate into your iPad production setup.
I’d personally like to thank our community for their patience. I know many users have been eager for the launch, so we’re very happy to bring the full experience to our iOS community. Thanks to the beta testers who have helped us find things and include features we may not have implemented on our own, and of course thanks to every team member who has worked very hard to get Scaler 3 for iPad out there.
We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback once you’ve had a chance to try it.
When I attempt to purchase it is asking for confirmation code on another device - but all my devices are on same account. How can I simply purchase without iPadOS/iCloud or wallet or whatever asking for a code that was supposedly sent to another device?
Thanks so much for this release! I just started using it and I’m excited to dive in more. However, I’ve been having some trouble with Bluetooth headphones. The standalone software recognizes the Bluetooth headphones, but there is no audio input or output in spite of the headphones working properly otherwise on the device. Weirdly enough, I don’t have this issue when running the software as a plugin through Logic Pro, only as a standalone. I know using Bluetooth headphones is not ideal for this, but I’d like to try it out to see how it works on the go. I’m using an iPad M4 air with latest os and power beats pro headphones. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Hi there. Thanks for making Scaler 3 available on iPad as well.
I’m a bit frustrated about your pricing policy though, since I have purchased a Scaler 3 license for Mac, I have Scaler 2 for iPad and the price in the German Appstore is set to EUR 17.99 (incl. 19% VAT) which is USD 20.84. A more customer friendly upgrade policy would be greatly appreciated.
We don’t get to set the pricing for individual countries unfortunately, Apple does that. We can only set the US pricing which we have done at 14.99 for launch. I personally set the iPad price to 50% of what our poll and internal team suggested we sell it for. At the moment you can get Desktop and iPad for $94. Scaler 2 iPad IAP is less than $20. Scaler 3 iPad is $15. I think that is fair and reasonable and for a fully fledged music writing environment its minuscule pricing compared to other apps.
Hi @davide, I am using Lenovo Wireless Stereo headset (Lenovo Wireless Stereo Headset). It appears not related to specific model since I tested with one other ear plug, it is had the same issue. Both headsets work fine with my Scaler 2 app on ipad.
Hi @DC-91 & @ramki123, thanks for your reports. This issue was fixed during beta, but it seems to have made its way back into the release. Our dev team is on it and working towards a fix as soon as possible. Appreciate your patience in the meantime. Cheers.
Thanks to you and @davide for the work you do and attention to this, and thanks @ramki123 for your input. I’m not sure if this helps or just complicates things, but I’ve tested this setup out with a new pair of AirPod Pro 3’s and I am not encountering the issue. It does persist with the Powerbeats Pro (first gen) though. So it doesn’t appear to be a universal bluetooth problem across the board…I thought maybe it was something Apple-specific under the hood, but thought Powerbeats used similar tech to AirPods given their ownership? Anyways, a little out of my depth on the tech here, but hope this helps.
This has been fixed and an update due on the App Store in a few hours time (currently in Review by Apple).

Thank you appreciating the input here and yes this is a complicated issue taking us some time to figure out. We are noting that sample rates are being switched with certain third party bluetooth headphones. We are looking into a fix and hope to get this last one soon!
Davide, I don’t know if you recall but quite a while ago I reported a problem with Scaler 2 and Cubasis where the tempo would fall out of sync when I switched from speakers to wired headphones. I eventually figured out that plugging in the headphones was changing the iPad sample rate between 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz (can’t remember which way around it was). I don’t think there was ever a solution but it shows that sample rates cannot be taken for granted in iOS world.
I also have the “no audio” problem with the Audiokit J6 and J8 synths whilst the other Audiokit synths are fine. I reported it on the Beta channel and also to Audiokit. Seems strange that only two of their plugins don’t work.
Yes we fixed that inherent Logic Pro bug (MIDI FX doesn’t pass on sample rate) with some clever workarounds. The Bluetooth headset issue is trickier but we will get there.
Audiokit J6 and J8 are known to be a bit sensitive in AUv3 hosts. We do the safe thing and allow the iPad to run as digital clock. My guess is those that don’t struggle.
Could you and @Axel_Caro please try switching audio output (e.g. speakers/headphones/interface), restarting the app or iPad, and testing the plugin in another host like AUM or GarageBand. This helps us determine if it’s a plugin-specific issue or something on our side.
