Scaler 3 cannot import chord sets from Scaler 2

I think the problem here relates to where the ‘chordset’ folder is on Mac.

It is in the hidden User Library, so cannot be found when searching. You need to option-click on the Go menu in the Finder which will reveal the Library as a destination in the drop down.

In that Library if you go to Scaler 3 you can find the chordsets folder. It had me confused but now it works well.

How do we properly import Chordsets & Presets from Scaler 2 .. into Scaler 3?

In addition, how to we import Sessions from Scaler 2 into Scaler 3.

@terbano Respectfully can you refrain from @ me in every comment. I see what you post and we are trying to get to all users. Some understanding and patience would be appreciated here.
To clarify. I don’t save ‘Full Sessions’ in Scaler 2. I export Individual patterns as chord sets. So for me I simply moved my folder over to Scaler 3 as I mentioned in this post and also this post by @Studio-dbfx
Also your vitriolic tone (which frankly looking though your messages has been consistent) is actually drowning out and hiding the solution I have posted for users finding solutions and to be frank, making me not see the point you are making. Is it that you saved all your Scaler 2 chords as ‘Full Sessions’. Has anyone else done that and struggling to import their chord sets? Has everyone seen @zzrwood Post here about accessing you user library?

Hello. Vitriolic? That’s awfully dramatic, Davide.
Perhaps, rather than tone-policing, you might focus on your product, which no one is preventing from you developing properly.

I’d like to arrange for a refund, as I’ll be leaving Scaler behind at this point. Judging from your apparent sensitivity and level of stress, I’m going to assume this is a relief for you, so let’s get it done.

This was a mistake.

Hi @terbano

If I understand correctly, your issue is that you feel you cannot load multiple chordsets into Scaler 3, is that correct?

I struggled with that until I realised the chordsets folder, on a Mac, was in the User Library - which is hidden by default.

Once I option-clicked on the Go menu in the finder, and found the Scaler 3 folder, everything was smooth sailing.

Have you tried that?

Hello everyone, having gone through the thread, there was a lack of clarity for me, but I finally understood that the Scaler 2 chord sets, which are in “Users/Shared/Plugin Boutique/Sets/” the contents in this location must be copied to a new location inside user library in the folder /Scaler Music/Scaler 3/ChordSets/ and it’s ok.

Hi @zzrwood - thank you for the input and suggestion; much appreciated. My problem, which was never actually acknowledged, is that Scaler 3 is forcing its users to export hundreds or more of their chord sets, one by one. Since @davide opted to revert to lectures on social propriety, and then proceeded to appeal to a solution that doesn’t acknowledge the one-by-one exporting issue, combined with the plethora of other issues with Scaler in Ableton, I’m going the refund route, leaving Scaler behind, and advising my colleagues accordingly.
Cheers, Mate!

Not sure what you mean by a plethora of problems in Ableton, I’ve been using it there since the first Beta version with no issues. Of course no plugin can solve Ableton’s poorly implemented internal midi routing.

It’s a shame that Scaler 3 isn’t for you, I’m finding it very inspirational.

Anyway, good luck mate with your music. :+1:

Hi @terbano, I don’t want to offend anyone!

The chordset folders workaround should work on Mac and PC. The ‘Full Session Import/Export’ doesn’t. I have only used that option a couple of times, just to load the whole session back in Scaler 2, as the chordset option wouldn’t have been useful by itself.

I am liking Scaler 3, and there are some options that were in Scaler 2, not yet available in Scaler 3, but they are coming…Maybe there will be the option to Import ‘Full Sessions’ in a future update like in Scaler 2.

Scaler 2 didn’t have all the features in one go. It took some time to get it where it is.

I had to Re-Edit my initial own post, because it seems that the VST2 was causing the resizing issues i was having. The VST 3 seems okay :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m pretty sure Scaler 3 will be the tool I’ll be using more, after seeing that one instance of Scaler 3, can drive different Midi Channels on a Multitimbral VST Instrument, in the arrange page.

I think we were expecting the same functions ‘Now’ that are in Scaler 2 to be transferred over. I get that it’s the first release of Scaler 3, and that more feature updates are on the way.

Again I don’t want to offend anyone!

All the Best :+1:

Yess, this feature just not working, not with import and not if I copy my Scaler 2 chordsets. I think with the other significant lacks of Scaler 3, I am waiting for a BIIIG update. Wery frustrating because I waited anyway soo long.

Have you tried Kushview Elements It might manage the internal Midi Routing easier

There is a Free Version available

Might be useful if Mac users could upload Screenshots of their Chordset Folder Structure that’s working. From Scaler 2 to Scaler 3.

Hey Griff. I am running a Mac Studio on Sonoma.

My Scaler 2 User Chordsets are stored here: mac hd/Users / Shared / Plugin BOutique / Scaler 2 / Sets

I simply copied this folder to here: Mac HD / Users / Name / Library / Scaler Music / Scaler 3 / Chordsets.

Then I opened a new instance of Scaler 3 and selected the User option. All my User Chordsets were visible in their original folders and order. Simply selecting the chordset loaded it. Any previously instantiated Scaler 3 instances will not see the User Chordsets. Probably that requires a reload of the project file.

Thank you! It was driving me crazy

Thank you! Works like a charm. I did have to restart scaler3 to have the newly imports appear!

You should post this as a main thread. A lot of people are asking about this. Thank you again

This is the answer!!!

More Directly .. If your Scaler Presets are saved as “Session” files .. they will not load in Scaler 3. Only the .xml files that are Chordsets Specifically will show.

None of your pattern information or Playback Performance (Articulations) will be carried over.

For anyone else a bit confused. :man_shrugging:

Am I missing something? I don’t have the folder installed on my machine. Scaler 3 just shows up with a “Sounds” folder and it doesn’t have a “Chord Sets” folder.
