I demoed all the concurrent tools found on Alternativeto (and elsewhere), but Scaler surclasses all them in terms of playability, features richness, easiness to create progressions
And even if it crashes (too much) often in my system, I keep using Scaler to compose in my DAW, using some trick to avoid crashes (notably saving Scaler state often, using one intrument at a time, then quickly bouncing it)
Outside my DAW instead, to practice my axe with my mobile trincket, I prefer using my smartphone with iRealPro
I was always unable to get the reason, but I found that I had zero crashes in a whole year just avoiding Scaler and the UJAM tools
In the meanwhile, I added plenty of RAM (32 GB), so I really don’t understand what can be the culprit
According to what I read recently on the UJAM website, and on Reddit, it seems that when different plugins use the same GUI engine, for example OpenGL, a bottleneck is created and lag/crashes may occur, and I suspect it is my case because crashes appear almost always when I have Scaler and/or UJAM’s GUIs open, and I am touching something on them, and when my DAW project is running (not stopped)
So I simply grope in the dark now, and I use a few tricks to go on
BTW, crashes are the reason why I’d wish to have an auto-save option in Scaler 3
