Scaler 3.1 Official Release Date June 24th, 2025

The Scaler3 RC wasn’t on June 6th. Does anyone know the schedule?

The time zone is set to ASIA/Tokyo, but do I need to set it somewhere else as well?

We are hoping for an 3.1 RC to go to our betas today. The Main Track Live Sync is now quite a complex feature. There’s much more to consider than there was in Scaler 2 so it’s taken a bit of time to get it totally right. All the other new bits are there and it is really good. We are very excited to get this into our community’s hands but we just need to get this right and that is the priority.

I am thinking it might be better to stop causally throwing out release dates if you guys are not actually ready.

This 3.1 release has now had a series of “real” dates attached to it - most recently June 6 - which has now come and gone and all you have done is set totally unrealistic expectations if a date is promoted but not met.

Do this “date dancing” too many times without actually delivering something and you risk breeding distrust.

Better to say nothing - and then be the rock star when a release is ready.

Actually they are being quite transparent. It is just that some end users are not familiar with the technical software development terms that they are using.

A RC (release candidate) is the last step before a public release. It might be the version that gets released or maybe not. When the RC goes out to the testers, it still requires testing. It is the last check to see if they have addressed the issues targeted for the release. It may have fixed the issues, it may or may not have introduced any new issues. There may still be new issues that had not yet been found when they set the goals for the release.

It is a triage process. They have to rank issues that are show stoppers for the largest numbers of users. There may still be issues that affect a small number of users that they will assign to the next release so everyone doesn’t have to wait.

It can be really rough at first for software that has gone through a total re-write like Scaler 3. There will be things that they are still scratching their head over that affect really strange cases that they cannot replicate yet but they will get to it.

Any time we are looking at software that is doing something new and different and having to work with a large number of programs that are not under their control, things can get spicy. Frankly, I am impressed that it works as well as it does. Especially when squeezing out several minor releases while working on the real update.

Not saying they are not being transparent. The crew is being VERY transparent.

What they are doing is making tactical errors by stating an actual date and then missing that date.

In case you missed it for the last few weeks - it was clearly stated here:

Coming in Scaler 3.1 June 2025 - Scaler 3 Support / Known Issues - Scaler Music - Community Forum

that that V3.1 was to be released on June 6.

Furthermore - related to this thread title - no sure where the OP got any idea that the “v3.1” that was scheduled for June 6 - was a release candidate either.

The way I read that text in that linked page - was that on June 6 - we were to get the actual Scaler v3.1 production release.

That entire text was removed and changed. That is what I am talking about.

If you are not 100% sure of an actual release date - do not say anything until you are.

I get it. The problem is that they are dammed if they do and damned if they don’t.

It is quite likely that they hit the dates but found issues with the previous candidates. They can’t just go ahead and release if the candidates don’t pass testing just to hit an arbitrary date. They can also get delayed by new reported issues that are show stoppers that must be included. Sometimes the development team comes up on things that take longer to fix than predicted.

You can’t have the dates carved in stone as not every candidate meets quality standards. You also can’t leave people in the dark without some idea of a timeline.

It is a balancing act. Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe they rely on information from other teams that were overly optimistic. Maybe they are up against issues beyond their control such as communication with developers with the DAW teams.

It is far worse when you have developers that just tell people to suck it up and they will get it out when they get around to it.

Just hope they sort out ASIO in standalone mode!

Considering how some of my favorite artists behave… you can miss a few release dates lol as long as you give us a great product!

They already added ASIO.

Hello team!

Do you have a date in mind to release your 3.1 RC?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

The more you do the more you want to improve and include. We are very close. Could be later this week or early next week. Thanks for your patience.

Is the time signatures (where most signatures apart from 4/4 don’t play back properly) issue being fixed? I believe it was due to be fixed but it’s not in the list above @davide

Hi Ben, yes it’s currently working fantastic except for /8 or /16 which we are working on right now so I would expect it to work 100%. Have addressed the release notes above.

That’s good to hear. I hope you manage to get /8 working, 6/8 & 12/8 are what I seem to use most!

Excited to see it all working and the new features.

Could you make the manual printable with a white/transparent background please?

TIA,
Ralf
