When I have the Scaler 3.1 plugin activated, Pro Tools hangs when starting up, and suggests moving the Scaler plugin to folder “Plug-Ins (Unused)”. In version 3.0 it was fixed by removing Pro Tools Speech to Text Engine, but with 3.1 I have the problem with or without it.
I am on a Mac M1 with Mac OS 15.5 and Pro tools 2025.6
Any suggestions on solutions?
Kind regards
Stefan
Hi Stefan. This is strange to hear. I’m running Pro Tools 2025.6 with the Speech to Text engine installed on an M2 Mac with Mac OS 15.5 and have no issues running Scaler 3.1.
Have you attempted a clean install of Scaler 3.1, deleting all the files mentioned in the clean install instructions on the known issues forum page?
It would be worth manually deleting the Scaler 3.aaxplugin and Scaler 3Audio.aaxplugin files as well located at Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins.
Then reinstall Scaler v3.1, then reboot.
Hi Tristan,
Followed the “clean install” steps and removed the plugins and also plugin cashes in Users/shared/pro tools/AAXPlugInCache. Now it randomly works/not works.
Hi @dude1961 thanks for the update. It seems you are making some progress as it sounded like Pro Tools was not even opening before with Scaler 3.1 installed.
As mentioned, that is not an issue we are able to replicate, however we have recently encountered Pro Tools hanging when opening prior Scaler 3 sessions. The proceeding error message mentions an issue with the Scaler 3 plugin and suggests moving it to unused plugins. In our experience the session did open without issue the following attempt but it sounds like there is something odd going on her and we are looking into this.
Would you mind elaborating on when you say ‘it randomly works/not works’? Does Pro Tools still hang when starting up? Or is there a different issue you are encountering now?
