Scaler 3 - 1.0.6 Browser Page:Playing current chordset Terminates Randomly

Precursor: After installing ver 1.0.6 Things appeared to work as they were supposed to. After using it for a few days, Scaler started acting strange. I was trying to copy chords in Arrange view and started having crashes when selecting chords or certain key combinations (hitting ctrl-shift for example). In some cases nothing happened, other cases the program terminated.

Now this condition exists: When going to the Browser page, I could not get the “Play chord-set” button (the arrow) to work. It would start, then stop. sometimes right away, sometimes middle of the chord or after a couple of chords had played. In the arrange page, the same was happening with playing sections (in the added tracks) so when I wanted to hear preview of what a section sounded like, it would not play fully. This was not consistent - appeared to vary randomly

I reinstalled version 1.0.5 and and the above disappeared and things functioned normally (i.e. selecting arrow on browser) played the chord progression without hesitation and consistently.

Installing ver1.0.6 caused the above to start happening once again.

BTW: Does Scaler create a crash report when it terminate abruptly? if where would I find it and would you be interested in seeing it.

Also have LICEcap capture if you want to see it in action

I can’t replicate this. What happens if you right click the Play Button (Auto-Play) and change chord sets? @Tristan Can you try on PC.

It still randomly triggers - say I have a four chord progression:

Rt-Click starts playing the progression (chord-set), it may make it through the first chord or it re triggers a couple of times then plays three chords before starting again, maybe the next pass will make it all the way the start glitching at the beginning.

I’m not sure what you mean by change chord-sets…

Again if you want I have LICEcap gif that show the action.

@davide no I’m unable to replicate this on Windows. Not having any issues with play buttons anywhere on the browse page.

@Syphus are you running Scaler 3 standalone or as a plugin? If running as a plugin which DAW are you using? I haven’t had any issues with key combinations causing crashes so I wonder if it is DAW related?

There have been some changes to play button behaviour recently where section A, B or C play buttons cannot be pressed when the main sequencer is running, so make sure your DAW is not playing when you are trying to play individual sections, or be sure to disable DAW sync.

I’m using the Standalone version for now - Just trying to a hand on how to use Scaler 3. So I have not bothered with the DAW version yet.

The play button is having problems on both the browser and the explore pages.

Trying to audition patterns, left clicking is problematic also (random glitches with playing)

@Tristan

FYI: Ran Scaler 3 in the latest Reaper DAW and the play buttons had no problems that I could invoke (had it sync’d to DAW) - so I’m only having problems with standalone at this time. I used single play and auto-play modes
