Play button not working

This app is beginning to make me a little frustrated. It seems very buggy to me. First I couldn’t get it to record now the play buttons are not working. First as the plugin in ableton live. None of the play buttons are working for me. I figured I would try the standalone version and they don’t work either. I have a Gm Scale in the middle. I can hit each individual chord and it plays just fine. But when I hit the play button it doesn’t play the scale like it should. Sometimes it plays the first second of the 1st chord. Sometimes it will play the whole chord, sometimes 2 chords, sometimes 3 chords. Never does it play the whole scale through. What the heck?

When I press the play button to the left of the row of suggested chords, it should play the entire series of chords, correct? Instead, it only plays the first one and then stops. The previous version would play them all. There must be a setting somewhere that is not right. Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

Hi @beauknowsdiddly @malcolmwebber it sounds like you are both having similar issues here. Perhaps there is some misunderstanding as we’re not aware of any issues regarding play buttons not working.

There are many play buttons throughout Scaler so perhaps you could share a screenshot here so we can tell exactly which buttons are causing you issues.

First of all, try disabling the Main Track motion if it is active, and also disable Play Quantize via the settings menu. But a few additional notes to clarify in case there is some confusion:

  • If Scaler 3 is running as a plugin and DAW sync is enabled, many play buttons will not work whilst the DAW is playing. Stopping DAW playback or disabling DAW sync mode should resolve this. DAW sync can be toggled by right clicking on the play button at the top of the screen, or via the settings window.
  • Most play buttons, except for the Main Track play button are affected by the ‘Chord Preview Duration’ value in Scaler’s settings windows. This determines how long each chord plays for. This has no effect on the Main Track as each chord’s duration is manually adjustable.

Thank you Tristan, I don’t know what the deal is all the play buttons are now working and I did nothing to make that happen. I’m going just keep on rolling for now! It’s just odd… Oh well thanks again.

Hi, you may consider to gray out the play buttons when they are controlled by the Daw?

Thanks Tristan. It’s weird but mine is working now also. Both standalone and in the DAW.
