S3 Keyslocked Blacks Keys is nice addition but potential hazard when obligitory?

Hi All,

Adding the “Black Keys” KL bind for triggering chords is a nice addition and often intuitive when jamming around. Good stuff. But being obliged to stay in this mode when using any “Chord Notes/Extentions/Scales” is a potential hazard I fear.

Switching from these modes to any of the “Scale Notes Mapped/Only/White” is changing the architecture of any pre recorded performances or chord foundations you may have already captured in DAW. And vice-versa… Anything recorded in “Scale KL” may be compromized if switching to “Chords KL”.

I often need to make a few overdubs to get melody right on top of any chord foundation.

I guess its a question of Keyboard economy too. You obviously get more Chord trigger notes or less key range used up by chosing “ALL” for Active bind Keys.

Any thoughts on this and might it be worth having Black Keys always as a choice?

(Just pondering work flows)

Yes that’s the compromise but a fair one and we do also have a ‘Black Keys’ option in settings so they can remain on the black keys thereby mitigating the exact compromise you point out!

Point taken. Though a workflow scenario could be lost to the Black Keys only obligation.

  1. Binding chords to lowest left keys.

  2. Keylocked engaged to Chord notes to break up the block chord or allow human arpeggiated performance etc.

  3. And yet still a little room far right for more free tinkling.

Kind of 3 for the price of 1. Again though, point taken and I’m sure its impossible to cover everything. Just some thoughts for anyone who may use similarly or might see a use in such a setup.
