There is a big discussion going on at the VI-Control website about the Privacy policy from the people behind Scaler 3, privacy and GDPR.
Can someone of Scaler 3 respond to this to clarify why this is necessarry:
" “Sensitive Information ” is a special type of Personal Information that relates to health information, political beliefs, ethnicity, membership of a professional or trade association, sexual preferences, philosophical beliefs, or criminal record. We will not collect Sensitive Information except with your consent, and then only if collection of such information is necessary for a particular activity or function."
Hi @GuidoPa
We’ve had this Privacy Policy for a few years, it is a fairly standard privacy policy. It was written by our lawyers and I have seen some of the concerns which are understandable. It does state: We will not collect Sensitive Information except with your consent, and then only if collection of such information is necessary for a particular activity or function.
I have forwarded this onto our lawyers as a matter of urgency and will revise and update as necessary.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Thanks for looking into this, @davide. It’s created a mad kerfuffle on the VI forums, which happens there often, unfortunately. But if you read through the thread, some valid concerns are expressed, IMO. As a longtime Scaler user, I’d be grateful for clarity. In the meantime, I look forward to upgrading this weekend and playing with all the new Scaler 3 features!
I want to clarify that Scaler has never collected or processed sensitive information such as political beliefs, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or criminal records—this is simply not relevant to our services. We’ve updated our privacy policy to make this explicitly clear.
I sincerely apologize if this caused any concern among our users—I completely understand why. I do want to note that our previous policy did state, ‘We will not collect Sensitive Information except with your consent.’ However, I can see how the wording may have led to confusion.
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly here in the community or or on our scaler music forum
Thanks for your support and for being part of the Scaler community.
