Laptop keyboard not playing in standalone, but ok as a VST

Greetings,

I’m working on a free workshop using Scaler 3 and noticed that in standalone mode, the laptop keyboard does not play a sound, it only beeps. I’m anticipating that most participants will not have a MIDI keyboard.

When I hook up with a MIDI keyboard, it’s all good.
When I tried as a VST inside bitwig, the laptop keyboard plays as well.
But when I tried as standalone, the laptop keyboard does not play internal sounds nor external VSTs.

The beeping occurs more prominently when I’m trying to bind a particular section. When I restart Scaler, the laptop keyboards can play for a brief moment, but after binding to any section, the beeping occurs.

the beeping occurs when I’m binding a particular section, when not binding, it is working for the

Ideally, the workshop will use the standalone mode; otherwise I can ask to download a DAW and try it out as a VST.

Regards,
Pedro

Environment: I am on a Mac M3 using Sonoma 14.7

Hi @deepdeepdot. The laptop keyboard you mention is likely a feature of your DAW (Bitwig), not Scaler 3. Scaler 3 itself does not support using your QWERTY keyboard as a MIDI keyboard. So this is only possible when using Scaler 3 as a plugin inside a DAW or host which offers this feature, i.e. Bitwig.

Hi Tristan,

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!

Cheers,
Pedro
