I’ve encountered an issue in Cubase (on Windows 11) involving the Circle of Fifths page. I’ve created a set of chords on the main track, but when I select some of these chords within the Circle of Fifths view, it doesn’t update with chord suggestions or allow changes to inversion, octave, or semitone as expected.
As shown in the attached video, the first five chords in the main track do not trigger any response in the Circle of Fifths page, whereas the sixth chord works as intended.
Restarting Cubase does not resolve the issue.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or is there a known fix or workaround?
Out of frustration, I deleted the Cubase Track and removed the Scaler 3 VST. I then re-created the track with Scaler 3. Everything worked and behaved fine. However, I have just gone back to the project today and I am now experiencing exactly the same behavior as I had originally described above. There is definitely something “buggy” happening with Scaler 3.
I wanted to share a short update regarding the issue I’ve been encountering. I have created a fresh Cubase project specifically for testing purposes and have been able to consistently reproduce the problem.
Here are the detailed steps:
Create a new VST Instrument Track with Scaler 3.
Select a G Major scale.
Drag the chords Bmin, D, and G to the main track.
Switch to the Circle of Fifths page.
Select Bmin on the main track and insert a Bmin7 from the chord suggestions.
Select D on the main track and insert a Dmaj9 from the chord suggestions.
Delete the original Bmin and D chords from the main track and move the G chord.
Close Scaler 3, save the Cubase project, and quit Cubase.
Reopen Cubase, load the project, and open Scaler 3.
Navigate back to the Circle of Fifths page.
Click on Bmin7 or Dmaj9 in the main track.
Observed Behavior:
Clicking on Bmin7 or Dmaj9 does not update the Circle of Fifths page.
No chord suggestions are provided, and it is not possible to change inversions or adjust semitones for these chords.
Interestingly, the G chord works correctly and updates the Circle of Fifths page as expected.
