Chord Suggestions Panel Focus Stuck on Previous Chord in the Create Page

S1 V7 & Windows 11 + Scaler 3 V3.1 - all software uptodate

When I’m working within my scale (in this case: G# minor), I frequently use the Circle of Fifths to find alternative chords. For example, I’d like to select the Emaj chord in the scale bar and view alternatives/extensions such as Emaj7 to use as my vi chord. However, the chord suggestions panel below often continues to show alternatives for a previously selected chord (e.g., the iii chord “B”). Clicking the new chord (“Emaj”) doesn’t refresh suggestions as expected.

I tried a few workarounds without any success.

  • Deselecting the old chord and re-selecting the new one (sometimes works, but inconsistent).
  • Clicking other chords and then returning to the desired chord.

Could this focus/refresh logic be improved so that selecting any chord in the Circle of Fifths always updates the suggestions panel accordingly? This would streamline workflow and avoid confusion when trying to build custom progressions with specific chord extensions.

See this wee video - for an illustration of what is going on.https://youtu.be/LGcr8Gan5ko

Thanks.

Hi @PTR it sounds like there is a bit of misunderstanding regarding the operation of the Circle of Fifths page.

  • The top row ‘Chord Suggestions’ will show chord suggestions based on the selected main track chord. Selecting chords from section B (current scale) will not affect what is displayed here.

  • The middle row ‘Circle of Fifths Chords’ shows chord variations based on the selected circle of fifths key/chord.

So if you want to see suggestions for an Em chord, you can drag Em from your current scale (section B) chords to your main track. When selected, chord suggestions will appear in the top row. You can then replace your Em chord with any of these if you’d like.

Alternatively you can select Em from the circle of fifths and see many variations of Em chords in the middle row to the right.
