Incorrect chord duration in MIDI editor (Scaler 3.1.07)

I’m using Scaler 3.1.07 standalone and in plugin mode. When I add a single Cmaj chord to the Arrange section (set to 1 bar), the MIDI Editor displays this chord as approximately 5 bars long. No performance, swing, humanize, or voicing features are active. Tempo is 120 BPM, time signature 4/4.

See attached screenshot.

This seems to be a MIDI Editor visual bug — the actual chord duration is correct, but the display is stretched. Please confirm if this is a known issue and whether a fix is planned.

Thanks!

Hi @rjbouman

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your descriptive post.

We haven’t been able to reproduce the issue you’re seeing on either our Windows or Mac machines. A one-bar chord is displaying correctly as one bar long in the MIDI editor.

If you haven’t already, we recommend rebooting your computer after installing Scaler 3. If you’ve already done that and had a previous version of Scaler 3 installed, a clean reinstall is also recommended – especially when oddities like the one you’ve described appear.

If the issue persists, please let us know and we’ll investigate further. Cheers.

I deleted everything (unins000.exe and …AppData\Roaming\Scaler 3), rebooted and redownloaded and installed Scaler 3 1.0.7. I still got the same problem. I didn’t have to fill in a license. Is that because Scaler 2 is still on it? Can that have a negative effect?

Hi @rjbouman. Thanks for the update, and sorry to hear the issue is still occurring.

Having Scaler 2 installed won’t affect Scaler 3 – they’re completely independent pieces of software. Similarly, not registering Scaler 3 yet shouldn’t impact performance either as it’s fully functional for 14 days without activation.

This could be related to a redraw issue, which we’re improving in the upcoming 3.1 update. For example, if the pattern was originally set to 4 bars and then shortened, the UI may not refresh correctly.

As a quick test, could you try clicking away from the MIDI Editor and then back again to see if anything changes? Cheers.

No, it doesn’t help. What is also annoying, that if I add an Arpeggio and a Bass, for example, these also have 4 bars in the midi editor. Also the arpeggio keeps reverberating, while it has not been selected for a long time. So there is continuous reverb and deviation of the meter (under Settings…)

I still have the same problem with 3.1. I would like to remove everything (even license), but I don’t know how to do that best?

The problem seems to have disappeared. Suddenly. Strange.

Hi @rjbouman, thanks for the update. Glad to hear it’s resolved, even if by mysterious means! Cheers.
