How to capture Motion from Scaler 3?

Hi everyone,

I only briefly used Scaler 2 while not knowing too much and jump to Scaler 3 upgrade. I have a question:

Somehow when started Scaler 3, without select anything in Section A or Section B, I just simply press a key in Section C, and Scaler chuck out some nice pattern. Wondering how to capture those in to a midi track in Ableton? I can enable record on a midi channel and getting the notes from Scaler 3. But It’s really hard to see where the pattern changes as it doesn’t seem to follow the time line of the DAW. but the bpm sync.

Thank you in advance for any hints.

Hi @RandomUser welcome to the forum. You will find plenty of tutorial videos on the Scaler Music YouTube channel for Scaler 3, including one covering MIDI capture and exporting MIDI: https://youtu.be/9fHwoWYIxtM?si=T5zs83zc8Y0cUxRs

You may also like to watch the getting started videos to cover the basics.

It sounds like you may have a motion enabled on your main track in Section C, so you can simply drag a single chord, or multiple chords from Scaler to a MIDI track in Ableton Live to export that pattern as a MIDI clip. But there are many other ways to capture/export MIDI from Scaler 3 covered in the video above.

Wow thank you so much, I’m able to achieve what I wanted. Yes, I’ve going through all the Youtube official tutorials, but did not capture the part as you suggested. I think I will need to view each one a few more times. Thanks again for your help.
