Hey all, I recently installed the latest version of Scaler 3 both standalone and as VST in FL-Studio. Not sure why, if a play back a pattern in FL Studio and then open Scaler 3 within FL and click on detect audio, no chords at all flow into Scaler. Any ideas/help on this one?
Hi @ashecho welcome to the forum. First you may like to watch the tutorial video on audio detection in Scaler 3 if you have not already just to be sure you’re familiar with the overall procedure.
Specific usage and routing may differ slightly depending on which DAW you are using and it is hard to get a sense of that in your attached image, but you do appear to be using the Scaler 3 instrument plugin as opposed to the audio effect plugin.
Whilst it is usually possible to get audio into the instrument plugin for detection via side chain, to make sure things are working I’d suggest first adding the ‘Scaler 3 Audio’ audio effect plugin onto a track in FL Studio and attempting detection there first to ensure routing isn’t an issue.
okey dokey let me try that. Just out of interest, where is the audio plugin? I just downloaded and installed Scaler 3, there wasn’t an option for an audio plugin?
The Scaler 3 installer should have installed both the instrument plugin ‘Scaler 3’ and the audio effect plugin ‘Scaler 3 Audio’ by default, but you can run the installer again to confirm.
The audio plugin should be listed with all your other effect plugins in FL Studio, whereas the instrument plugin will be listed under generators.
Thanks Tristan, in FL I can see Scaler 3 audio.dll and audio.vst which one?
They are the same plugin. .dll is VST2 and .vst is VST3. You’re unlikely to notice much difference in operation but VST3 is generally preferable and more future proof.
ok great thanks. If I can’t figure it out I will come back. Cheers anyway!!!
