I’ve got some midi on the Polymer device playing thats out of tune with the audio coming from the elektron device. How can I use scaler 3 to make the polymer tune, be in tune with the elektron device? Please if anyone answers, please make the answer as simple as possible. Ideally with a video showing what to do.
I put scaler 3 onto what was a nice sounding bloc of midi and it changes totally the sound is there a setting in scaler 3 I can change to stop this from happening or is it unavoidable?
Or rather than reading audio which I understand it might not be able to regularly do properly - is there a way to ask scaler 3 to read midi from Bitwig without scaler 3 altering the sound of the loop when you place it on the relevant daw track @Tristan ?
Hi Daisy. You seem to have a few questions here, so it might be best to address them one at a time.
Whilst I’m not sure what your Polymer device is, Scaler is likely not capable of making one hardware device be in tune with another hardware device. Scaler 3 can detect audio or MIDI from one (or both) of your devices and give you a list of detected chords and scales but it won’t do any realtime correction or transposition.
One option may be to detect audio or midi from both your hardware devices one at a time so Scaler can give you an idea what key they are both in. Then perhaps you can manually transpose your hardware devices to be in tune with each other based on this information. Does that sound like what you are trying to do?
Polymer isn’t a hardware device @Tristan
it’s a computer sound generating device supplied by bitwig I think commonly called a vst or plugin I don’t know. It’s built into the daw
I’m trying to understand how to mute scaler 3 and have it only work as a midi machine outputting midi based on midi I feed it
I dont want it itself to generate any sounds and or if it has to I rather the sounds scaler 3 generates be that which I have chosen from within my daw
I think I remember this being possible but I feel like it’s a complicated series of settings of adjustments that I need to make inside of scaler 3 to achieve this? Complicated to me at least
As it stands when I “put scaler 3 on a bloc of midi on my daw” Scaler 3 colonizes the sounds so to speak. How can I change this? I’m almost sure you’ve designed it so that this need not always be the case?
