Audio Detection Not Working on Mac 1.0.6

Hello, Davide or support team,

I am trying to understand how to have Scaler 3 listen to my Logic Pro audio track with an audio file solo cello I prepared in StaffPad. It plays beautifully.
However, I can’t get Scaler 3 with update 3.1.0.6 to suggest chords based on this single line melody.

Can this be done? I have consulted ChatGPT and received specific instructions within Logic but I’ve had no luck in making this work.

I really need simplistic instructions as I’m not gifted with this ability.

Thank you for any assistance. I’ve also downloaded your user guide.

Hi, my first post here - I’ve done my best to search or answers here and elsewhere but have found the sheer number of posts overwhelming.

I’ve just got Scaler 3 and have been working my way through the video course. Module 1-1 is the detect audio feature. I simply can’t get audio detect to work. I do exactly as described in the video (except I’m using Logic Pro) and Scaler 3 does nothing. I add Scaler 3 Audio plug-in to the audio track, which has audio on it (I’ve tried many many different audio files), I select Audio Detect - the red dot flashes, the audio plays, but nothing is detected.

I’ve fallen at the first hurdle! Grateful for advice.

Just to add - tried with Scaler 2 (same track, audio etc - just swapped S3 for S2 and back again) and it works exactly as expected. Scaler 3 is not detecting?

Hi @ChrisHawkins. Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum. You’re right – audio detection isn’t currently working on macOS, either in the Scaler 3 Audio plugin (on audio tracks) or the virtual instrument version when routing audio into it. We believe this issue was introduced in the 1.0.6 update. We’ve logged it as a known issue and it’ll be fixed in the 3.1 update, which is expected next week. Cheers.

@Steven - appreciate the quick and helpful response; sorry, I did not see it in the known issues. Just glad the problem wasn’t me :slightly_smiling_face:

No worries at all, @ChrisHawkins - your post actually helped us confirm there was an issue, so thanks for raising it

Hi @Canjo

I moved your recent post from Scaler 3 takes a long time to load a saved state in the standalone version - Mac to this thread.

Unfortunately, audio detection is not working on macOS in Scaler 3 v1.0.6. We’ve logged it as a known issue and it’ll be fixed in the 3.1 update, which is expected next week. The User Guide will also have expanded descriptions of Audio / MIDI Detect and Capture in the 3.1 update.

When audio detection has been fixed for macOS, here are a few ways to use audio detection with Scaler 3 in Logic Pro:

The simplest method is to insert the Scaler Audio 3 (Audio FX) plugin directly onto an audio track.

To use real-time audio detection:

  1. With the Detection popup open and Detect Audio selected, click the Record button. The button will flash, indicating that Scaler 3 is actively monitoring incoming audio data.
  2. Start playback from the desired point in your DAW’s timeline, or perform live audio through an instrument such as a guitar routed into the track.
  3. As the audio plays, Scaler 3 will analyse the content and display the detected chords in Section A, with corresponding scale suggestions in Section B.
  4. When you’re finished, click the Record button again to stop detection. The results will remain visible for further interaction, such as binding or editing.

Tip - in Logic, turn on Input Monitoring on the track (the “I” button") to hear sound from the Scaler 3 Audio version.

To use Detect Audio via file import:

  1. With the Detection popup open and Detect Audio selected, click the Folder button.
  2. A file dialog will appear. Navigate to and select an audio file from your computer.
  3. Double-click the file or click Open to import it into Scaler 3.
  4. Scaler 3 will automatically analyse the file and display the detected chords in Section A, with corresponding scale suggestions shown in Section B.

Alternatively, you can route audio into the Scaler 3 (Virtual Instrument) plugin using sidechain input, and then follow the real-time audio detection steps outlined above.

Cheers.

Doesn’t work on Windows either. I am a new user and purchased or this feature alone, so this is very disappointing. I am on Windows 11 and Ableton Live 10.

Works fine on Windows. Please ensure you are setting it up correctly and watch out Audio Detection tutorial.

I checked all VST locations, all is good. I followed the manual for audio detection, but, still I cannot get Scaler to detect audio in studio one. MIDI is fine as I can set studio one to Scaler output in the inspector. Though I cannot do this with an audio track.

Ok I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong then. I followed the steps from the video before, but went back again and followed them once again. I used the Scaler 3 audio plugin on an audio track in Ableton. I selected Detect Audio, made sure the red button was flashing then pressed start in Ableton. I can’t attach a video but in the still frame, you can see that Scaler is getting a signal, and the red record button is working, but no chords appear. Am I missing something obvious?
