Perhaps I am misunderstanding something or can you actually adjust the lengths of individual chards? I was able to do this in Scaler 2. I realize the interface and workflow changed, but I cannot perform the length adjustments.
It appeared that, in one video, I saw the ability to perform length adjustments by dragging the right or left edge and expand or decrease the chords playback length.
I have not been successful in performing the above. Am I correct that this process is already a feature? If so, then would someone point me in the right direction on how to this?
Just grab the right edge and drag to lengthen / shorten. This snaps according to the Divisions setting top right of the Arrange Page. Note that in the upcoming Scaler 3.1 you will be able to lengthen/shorten multiple clips in one hit.
I found your response and had tried that process. However, even though a cursor appears, it does not display the arrow’s cursor as it does in the Midi Version. I cannot get the drag to work in either direction.
It appears as though this does not work in the audio program. I was attempting to detect chords and then adjust to match the timing of the chords of the audio.
This only works if there is an open space to the right of the chord. It would be awesome if it would slide the following chords to the right and allow you to expand a chord in the middle.
I am not talking about shortening. That works fine. I am talking about a sequence of chords that are each a full measure, and I want to change the middle chord to two measures, or 1.5 measures. To do that you have to select all the chords after and move them to the right, which is rather difficult if you already have more chords than fit on the page and are scrolling.
I was totally incorrect. I can easily make adjustments in both Audio and Regular (MIDI) apps. Davide, when you pointed to the upper right I just did not focus on the .small division number and was literally going to the top right of the screen that takes you to preferences and was changing the number of beats there. I need my eyes examined. When you are 71 it’s easy to miss things.
My apologies!
At least on Windows It was pretty straight forward to extend the length of a chord in the middle of a progression.
As stated by Davide, look for the default of 1 Bar and a dropdown menu appears. Select the desired division, i.e., 1/4
Now that the measure can be subdivided, use the mouse to select the edge of the measure to the right of the measure you want to extend. That creates the space for the previous measure to extend into by selecting the right edge of the measure and dragging to the right. You do not need to select all the measures to drag to the right first.
I agree that the process of creating a 2 bar measure in the middle of a progression is not ideal. But you can certainly extend a measure by increment (up to the last value of the set division) i,e, if you set the division to 1/4 then the most you can decrease the length of the next measure is to the last 1/4 beat and the previous measure can then take up all of the first measure and 3/4 of the next,
Although cumbersome, you could delete the measure adjacent to the one you want to extend and delete the chord to space, Then insert the chord you deleted back in after the 2 measure chord you created.
I believe that the UI should allow extending a measure to any length desired and the adjacent bars should simply slide to the right. Perhaps that can be a correction in a point release.
